Yak Track: Path of the Creators II

Yak Track: Path of the Creators II

Yak Track is back – and with new reasons to play!

If you’ve never hit the track before, here’s everything you need to know.

We’ve made it to double figures folks – the 10th Yak Track will commence on February 28th! But what new bonuses do we have in store for you this time? And what’s the deal if you’re a first time Track-trekker?

So, just why is the 10th Track better than ever, you ask?

    • Awesome Elder Gods theme – with prizes inspired by Bik and Ful!
    • More time on the Track – you've got a whole two months to earn those prizes!
    • More flexible than ever – complete freedom to play however you want. For the very first time, you can progress EVERY SINGLE TASK just by skilling and killing!

    Sounds good, right?

Introducing Yak Track: Path of the Creators II

Yak Track is a regular event where you can earn rewards by completing tasks across Gielinor. There are typically four a year, and so far, they’ve always lasted six weeks. But hey, this is our 10th outing and we reckon that’s worth celebrating, so this time you're getting a full two months – Path of the Creators II will run from February 28th to April 24th!

Following on from the first Yak Track: Path of the Creators last year, we’re returning to an Elder Gods theme, with prizes worthy of the mighty Ful and Bik. Scroll down to check out our spectacular rewards!

    Tasks

There are 50 tasks available, testing all sorts of different skills, from cooking to killing monsters. There are rewards for each task, but don't worry if you don’t fancy completing one – you can always use a Task Skip.

You'll need to purchase Task Skip tokens from the event interface using Bonds. It costs 1 Bond for four tokens, or 2 Bonds for 10.

And if you have any Task Skips left over at the end of the event, you can always save them for the next Yak Track later in the year!

    'Earn Your Way'

As well as Task Skips, you can also take the 'Skill and Kill' option, which means you can complete a task just by playing normally - i.e. earning XP or killing enemies. This way, you're making progress on the Track and earning your rewards just by getting on with your usual activities! For the first time ever, we're giving you this option for every single one of the 50 tasks. However, progress will be slower and more steady than when completing the standard tasks.

    Rewards

Rewards include cosmetics, pets and useful items which you’d normally obtain from Treasure Hunter (Prismatic Lamps, Protean Packs, Oddments for Ironman players, etc).

There are two prize tracks – the free track (available to F2P and members) and Premium (only available to Premier Club Members or Premier Pass holders). The latter gives you prizes from both tracks.

You can unlock the Premium track by having an active Premier Club membership, or buying a Premier Pass for 2 Bonds in the interface. And remember – if you start completing tasks and then gain a Premier Pass later, all of the extra rewards you would have earned will automatically unlock for you!

Ironman accounts can get cosmetic rewards and Oddments but nothing that boosts XP, of course.

Note that all weapons and armour from Yak Tracks are cosmetic overrides. To claim your rewards, you must have enough space in your Backpack!

Here is what you can get

This Week In RuneScape: World Map Ninja Strike & DXP LIVE Continues!

This Week In RuneScape: World Map Ninja Strike & DXP LIVE Continues!

This update deploys at 11:00 Game Time today, February 21st. As the Update is deployed, the servers will remain offline for approx 30 minutes as we perform some additional server maintenance.

Not all who wander are lost, but sometimes it’s good to take a long hard look at the ol’ World Map and find your bearings. Well, for the first time ever this week, said map is the focus of its own Ninja Strike! Plus, we’re finally able to reveal the magnificent Abyssal Creatures that will be making your life a misery from February 28th. Better train that Slayer skill, quick!

    Ninja Strike: World Map
    Cartography by Ninjas

The Ninjas have swooped in to make the World Map a more useful resource in your day-to-day play. Where would we be without them eh? (Lost, obviously).

    Changes include:

    • A massive overhaul of gathering tooltips, meaning tons more information e.g. roll over a Woodcutting resource and instead of just saying ‘Rare Tree’ it will now list the specific type and required level to cut it.
    • Updates to trees/forests, Fishing spots, Divination colonies/rifts and Farming patches.
    • Graphical updates to Fishing spots, so they’re more clearly visible in the water.

Check out the Patch Notes for more info!

    Abyssal Slayer Creatures Revealed!
    Meet your new best enemies...

Here are the new creatures you'll be facing down on February 28th! They’re absolutely dying to meet you…

Head down to Senntisten and take on swarming Savages, Beasts that drain life, and the cunning Abyssal Lords which summon minions in their multitudes. They’ll emerge from the breach slavering for blood, and you’ll need 95, 105 and 115 Slayer to dispatch them.

It’s worth the fight, because the rewards include an old favourite in a very exciting new form. Yup, get ready to snap those baddies into shape: It’s the Abyssal Whip 2.0!

Now a Tier 92 weapon, this iconic mainhand weapon isn’t the only awesome item that’s up for grabs. Why not read all the juicy details in our dedicated blog?

    Double XP: LIVE
    Seven days remain to train!

Don’t forget to use your 48 hours of Double XP before 12:00 Game Time on February 28th. You can use it on any skill. Plus, you can pause the timer whenever you like for maximum benefit!

Obviously it’s up to you how you use it, but remember that you’ll need to train Slayer to 95/105/115 to take on those Abyssal nasties mentioned above. Need some tips? Check out Protoxx's guide below for maximising those gains over the next week!

Ready to get skilling? Find all the info here.

    Event: War's Reckoning
Make the most of War's buffs

It’s also the final week to enjoy the benefits of War’s Reckoning – of which there are many!

From Double Slayer and Reaper points to the new Safe Deaths (like Free Deaths, but even more convenient) there are tons of ways to get ready for those Abyssal Creatures.

Make sure you head down to War’s Retreat and get buffed before February 28th. Find out more about War’s Reckoning in our February blog.

    Patch Notes
Fixes and improvements in this week's game update

    Ninja

    • Woodcutting trees, Fishing spot, Divination colony and Farming patch resource icons on the map now display site-specific information in their tooltip, and their skill guide now lists the major locations where they can be gathered, similar to Mining and Archaeology.
    • Removed Woodcutting, Fishing, Mining and Divination Training icons from the key, as they're no longer in use and can be added in future as site-specific icons.
    • The Rare Tree key now toggles Magic Trees and above. Added separate Uncommon Tree toggle for lower-level trees (now including Willows).
    • Most Fishing spots have been graphically updated to higher contrast models, so you can see them in the water more easily.
    • The default tooltip heading and body text for generic icons has been updated to a larger font.
    • When opening the map, the default position is once again the centre of the surface map (Lumbridge), rather than the top-right corner of the map (Anachronia).

    Engine

    • Hitbox accuracy reverted to original behaviour.
    • Improved the app connection handling on initial launch.
    • Fixed a bug where fire walls in the Cabbage Facepunch Bonanza minigame were invisible.
    • Fixed an issue which was causing the player to appear the wrong colour during Vorago and Kalphite King battles.
    • Applied a change that should hopefully prevent a broadcast message from appearing repeatedly in the chat window.

    General

    • Ancient Casket items will no longer be lost if confirmation of abandonment is not accepted.
    • Wearing Necronium, Bane, or Elder Rune equipment until they degrade to a broken state will no longer result in a force-remove the items if the Backpack and Bank are both full.
    • Reaper Points are now correctly deducted from an account upon purchase of the Mahjarrat Aura.
    • Reward UI is now displayed in full-screen mode on mobile devices.
    • The Furnace perk is no longer active when mining Crystal-Flecked Sandstone.
    • Quickchat for Dwarf Multicannon upgrade kits now mentions the correct item.
    • Fixed an issue where Previous and Next arrows in the Book of the Underworld could be clicked through.
    • Fixed an issue which caused the Cavern Chill debuff to disappear when reviving in the Living Wyverns Cavern.
    • Fixed an issue where Bones to Bananas and Bones to Peaches did not highlight with Mage Arena Bones in the inventory.
    • Fixed an unwalkable tile in Port Sarim.
    • Fixed an issue with additional action bars overlapping the World Map.
    • Fixed a typo on the Har-Aken and Jad Reaper portals.
    • Fixed seasonal Oddments that were not appearing correctly in the Marketplace.
    • Mobile: A reworked interface for slain Barrows Brothers has been implemented.

    Abyssal Slayer Creatures

    Abyssal Slayer Creatures

Dark shadows are forming in Senntisten. Disturbing visions foretell battle and bloodshed. Are you ready to delve deeper into the lore of the Senntisten Asylum?

You may remember this sinister place was hinted at in Broken Home. On February 28th, members will discover the truth.

But brace yourself, adventurer, because this is a tale of malignant new forces the likes of which Gielinor has not seen before. Say hello to your best new enemies: the Abyssal Slayer Creatures!

    abyssal_player_fight_alt.png

As these ghastly foes pour into Senntisten, you’ll need progressively stronger credentials to put them out of their misery. The first set of creatures requires 95 Slayer, the second 105 and the third a whopping 115. This skirmish ain’t for the faint-hearted.

So, what are these three creature types you’ll be facing? Here’s the lowdown on each one, in order of strength:

    Abyssal Savage (95 Slayer)

    thomas-karlsson-abyssal-savages.jpg

Although they are the weakest of our new foes, there’s a lot more of ‘em, and these magical monstrosities are all about the swarm attack. Their only desire is to kill – their own survival is irrelevant.

Watch out for their two lashing tongues, but remember that the sheer number of them is enough to overwhelm. Better think fast…

    Abyssal Beast (105 Slayer)

    thomas-karlsson-abyssal-hounds.jpg

The Abyssal Beast is an aggressive, Hell Hound-like creature that will try its best to siphon off your life force. Fairly strong and very bloodthirsty, you’ll need to dodge its massive tongue – and watch for its HP-draining special attack.

    Abyssal Lord (115 Slayer)

    thomas-karlsson-abyssal-lords.jpg

High up in the aristocratic echelons of the Abyssal demons, The Lord rules above all, with power and knowledge far beyond the rest of its abject cohort. It summons a multitude of minions to assist in combat, and does not blink at their demise. Make sure you kill them fast before they overwhelm you!

    Rewards

Well, that all sounds… foreboding. Battling these creatures will be worth your while, though – not just for the fate of Gielinor, but for the very juicy rewards. Here’s what’s on offer.

    Abyssal Scourge

A classic weapon, a main-hand masterpiece, a much-beloved bringer of doom - and now viable in the current meta!

This is a brand new take on the mighty Abyssal Whip is an impressive Tier 92 main-hand weapon, and it has a nasty surprise for its unfortunate targets.

Each attack that lands will apply the Abyssal Parasite effect, which is a melee bleed. If the parasite is already on the target, the effect will refresh the bleed duration, and add one more stack for good measure. If your target reaches maximum stacks, the duration will simply refresh.

For every stack of Abyssal Parasite, the target will take damage every three cycles, for 15 cycles in total.

If a target then dies, Abyssal Parasites will all explode out of its body! They will multiply and attack your enemies, as well as any others within a 5x5 radius of the originating target.

The new targets will then start off with 50% of the original Parasite Bleed stacks.

The Abyssal Parasite shares similarities with Corruption Shot, except it will also tag and aggro its targets when it jumps to them. Gruesome!

The Abyssal Scourge is dropped by the Abyssal Lords, with a significantly increased drop chance when on task.

    Jaws of the Abyss Helm

Prove you’ve got a head for slaying and you’ll get to adorn it with this T85 Melee Power armour helmet!

While wearing it, all bleeds on the target will increase the adrenaline gain of your melee basic attacks by +2% per bleed type in PvE, and by +1% per bleed type in PvP.*

The Jaws of the Abyss Helm is dropped by the Abyssal Beasts, with a significantly increased drop chance when on task.

*This might be changed to all melee attacks after gameplay testing.

    Abyssal Armour Spikes

These are consumable add-ons to upgrade Armour Spikes or Trimmed Armour Spikes, and inflict damage to enemies attacking you in melee.

When activated, they have a chance to apply Abyssal Parasites to the target (see above for details).

The Abyssal Armour Spike components are dropped by all three of the new Abyssal Creatures.

    Reminder!

We’ve made February extra Slayer-tastic, with two unmissable events to boost your credentials ready for the battle on the 28th. Check out Double XP LIVE and War’s Reckoning, and become every Abyssal Creature’s own worst nightmare.

    Double XP LIVE (February 18th-28th)

You have 48 hours of Double XP to use before February 28th!

If you're going to stand a chance against these Abyssal creatures, you’ll need to train Slayer to 95, 105 and 115, so now is the best time to get yourself skilled up and reap double the rewards.

Remember, you can pause the timer whenever you like for maximum benefit!

Double XP LIVE runs from Friday February 18th, 2022 (12:00 GMT) to Monday February 28th, 2022 (12:00 GMT).

    • Safe Deaths! This is a new upgrade on the Free Deaths bonus. Instead of actually dying and having to claim your items back, you will instead be shrouded from Death's gaze – and respawn with all your stuff!
    • Double Slayer points.
    • Double Reaper points.
    • Reduced Marks of War cooldown (-50%).
    • Reduced Invention drain rate (-50%).
    • Increased luck on the Rare Drop Table.
    • +50% Slayer XP from tasks (not applicable when Double XP is active – also not available for Ironmen or Hardcore Ironmen).
    • Elder Overload Golems at War’s Retreat (not available for Ironmen, Hardcore Ironmen or F2P).

This Week In RuneScape: Double XP LIVE
    Double XP: LIVE
It's time to train for double the gain!

Attention skillers! Double XP: LIVE lands on Friday, February 18th at 12:00 Game Time. This is your chance to enjoy 48 hours of Double XP on any skill. Use your time over 10 days, and pause the timer whenever you like!

Remember, we’ve got new Slayer Creatures arriving at the end of the month and you’ll need 95/105/115 Slayer to tackle them, so this is the perfect moment to get training. Plus, you’ll go even further if you skill in combination with War’s Reckoning – more on that below.

Oh, and do you need any Proteans or other skilling items? Look out for our 'Time to Train' Treasure Hunter promotion, which will be back from the 17th!

    Event: War's Reckoning
Make the most of War's buffs

War’s Reckoning is here, and you’ll have noticed that it runs until February 28th, which is… hmm… gosh, would you look at that… all through the 10 days of Double XP LIVE!

Well you know what they say, there’s no such thing as a coincidence – and sure enough there are some neat synergies between the two events. Enjoy double Slayer and Reaper Points, and benefit from War’s extra special Safe Deaths – like Free Deaths but even better, because you respawn with your items intact!

Please note that Safe Deaths are not available for Hardcore Ironmen or F2P and as mentioned last week the +50% Slayer XP from tasks will be disabled during Double XP LIVE.

This Week In RuneScape: War's Reckoning

It’s time to become a Slayer superstar as War himself invites you to complete tasks for bonus XP! But hey, maybe you’re a lover not a fighter, in which case you might want to hear about the latest Valentine’s-themed Treasure Hunter. You know what they say: all’s fair...

    Event: War's Reckoning
Prepare for battle and experience Safe Deaths!

A creeping horror is about to emerge in Senntisten, and you’ll need 95, 105 and 115 Slayer to take on whatever abominations crawl out on February 28th.

Not quite there yet? Don’t worry, because War himself is offering a boost bonanza - just visit him at War's Retreat to reap the benefits. A few reasons to get involved:

    • Safe Deaths! A juicy upgrade on the Free Death bonus which allows you to respawn with items intact, instead of having to reclaim them! Please note this is not available for Hardcore Ironmen or F2P.
    • Double Slayer and Reaper points.
    • Reduced Marks of War cooldown and Invention drain rate (-50%).
    • Increased luck on the Rare Drop Table.

Feel the love with Treasure Hunter!

Valentine's Day approaches, and Treasure Hunter has some truly swoon-worthy prizes up for grabs!

You’ll have a chance to swipe the Sceptre of Enchantment, last seen in our 2016 promotion, but now as a tradeable item (though please note that it becomes untradeable on use). The Sceptre's Valentine's Slam bonus grants a 4% XP boost and the Bonfire HP Boost for 24 hours, plus a 2% XP Boost and two hours of the Bonfire HP Boost for those around you – sharing is caring, folks!

You might also pick up the Coin of Enchantment, which works in the same way as the Sceptre but gives a 2% XP buff for you, and a 1% buff for everyone around you - not including any Bonfire boosts. It also stacks with the Sceptre buff, so you can have both running at the same time!

Every prize also awards ‘Heartments’, loved-up Oddments which can be used to buy all sorts of delightful rewards – including past Valentine's Day cosmetics.

Here’s what else is up for grabs:

      • Prismatic Star & Lamp (Consumable rewards, identical to those in the H'oddments Store)
      • Masquerade Outfit
      • Masquerade Mask
      • Heart Balloon

    RuneScape in February

    RuneScape in February

    Shadows Over Senntisten

Dark energies are coalescing in Senntisten. The city's defenders describe cryptic, horrifying dreams of thrashing maws and murky shadows when they close their eyes.

One of those suffering from the visions has written in his diary what these nightmares entail:

These creatures... it is not their size but their overwhelming number that terrifies me. They chase me relentlessly, lashing with their vile tongues. They have no regard for themselves and continue to hunt me even at the brink of death.

Sometimes I am visited by other beasts, fiercer and faster. They move like panthers and drain the essence of all within reach in order to sustain their pursuit.

And then, the monstrosity... the most terrifying of all. I have only caught glimpses of it, commanding the other creatures as they hunt me. I do not wish to know this one better.

If these abominations are really out there, we're going to need experienced adventurers of level 95, 105, and 115 Slayer to even attempt to quell the threat. The only alternative would be to abandon Senntisten, a price we can ill afford to pay...

You still have some time to get fit for the battle. The portal opens on February 28th.

    image (159).png

    War’s Reckoning

From February 7th until February 28th, you'll be able to prepare for the nightmare to come by meeting with War himself! He can be found at War's Retreat, and from here he will send adventurers to rip and tear in his name!

There'll be a number of helpful bonuses active through this event:

    • Safe Deaths: An improvement on the Free Death bonus which allows you to respawn with items intact, instead of having to reclaim them. Please note this is not available for Hardcore Ironmen or F2P.
    • Double Slayer and Reaper points.
    • Reduced Marks of War cooldown and Invention drain rate (-50%).
    • Increased luck on the Rare Drop Table.
    • +50% Slayer XP from tasks* (not applicable when Double XP is active, see below – also not available for Ironmen or Hardcore Ironmen).
    • Elder Overload Golems at War’s Retreat (not available for Ironmen, Hardcore Ironmen or F2P).

*this bonus will be disabled during Double XP LIVE.

    Double XP LIVE

But terror isn't all we have in store this month - mark your calendars, because Double XP LIVE returns at 12:00 Game Time on Friday, February 18th! You'll then have until 12:00 Game Time on Monday February 28th to take advantage of that juicy boosted XP.

You can spend your 48 hours of Double XP time across all 28 skills - but we'll need battle-hardened adventurers to hold back the Abyss. Why not spend some time beefing up that Slayer skill?

Remember, you can pause the Double XP buff whenever you need to take a break. Just make sure to use it all before the event ends! If you're in a hurry, you can also use Protean items to fast-track your gains, or zero in on specific skills.

To learn more, check out our Double XP LIVE page here.

This Week In RuneScape: Het's Oasis

This Week In RuneScape: Het's Oasis

Happy new year ‘Scapers! It may still be cold and dark outside, but the arrival of 2022 means a fresh start and a brighter outlook. What better way to celebrate than by helping transform the old Duel Arena into the brand-dazzling-new Het’s Oasis?

    Het's Oasis
    The Duel Arena's transformation begins!

An earthquake has destroyed the Duel Arena. Icthlarin is down amidst the ruins, sent there by Seren to fetch a powerful object that could help them in Senntisten. Now he needs your help to explore the foreboding edifice of Het's Tomb. What ancient secrets lie within?

This thrilling new miniquest is just one of the delights that await you in our brand-new skilling hub, Het’s Oasis!

Starting from today, we’re inviting you to take part in Oasis Restoration, a two-week temporary event where YOUR activity brings the new area to life! Skill and earn individual and community rewards, including cosmetics and drop rate enhancers for the Elder God Wars Dungeon, and help transform the former Duel Arena ruins into a plentiful desert paradise.

The restoration event is temporary, but Het’s Oasis is a permanent new area for Gielinor, offering a continuation of the Elder God Wars saga and lots of fun activities to boost your XP and earn rewards.

Visit from today and take part in the new permanent mini-quest (Eye of Het I) and three new skilling methods: an Agility course, Hunter method and Farming method (with new rewards for each)! You’ll find the Oasis just east of Lumbridge and north of Al Kharid.

    Full event details here: https://rs.game/HetsOasis

    Golden Party Hat Hunt
Make your Phats before it's too late!

The Golden Party Hat Hunt is officially over! No more shards can be earned at this point, apart from the Yak Track and Premier Club shards, which can be gained up until January 17th. If you've managed to grab eight of ‘em by now, you'll be ready to make your Golden Party Hat!

You must craft your hat by January 17th – after that your shards will dissolve forever! Talk to the Wise Old Man now and he’ll help you turn all your hard work into the most resplendent headgear in all of Gielinor.

Elder God Wars Dungeon: Drop Rates

Elder God Wars Dungeon: Drop Rates

This year, you've been facing off in an epic battle to save Gielinor from the Elder Gods - and chasing some epic loot in the process. We know you've been keen to find out the drop rates for each of the four fronts found in the Elder God Wars Dungeon, and today, we want to lift the curtain for each of the bosses found within. Let's get to it!

    Kerapac

    Normal Mode

The chance of finding a unique boss drop is 1/256.

    • In the unique drop category, there is an equal chance to find Kerapac's Wrist Wraps, Greater Concentrated Blast or a Scripture of Jas
    • If the roll fails, you will be given a common drop

    Hard Mode

The chance of finding a piece of the Staff of Armadyl is 1/450, with a unique boss drop at 1/192.

    • Hard Mode has two unique rolls - one for a Staff of Armadyl piece, and if failed, one for a unique boss drop.

    Kerry Pet

The initial chance of finding the Boss Pet is 1/3000 on Normal Mode and 1/1500 on Hard Mode.

The Boss Pet has a threshold of 500 kills - meaning every 500 kills, your odds are increased by a factor of one. This means you should calculate your odds as 1+Threshold/3000 or 1+Threshold/1000. For example, at 1001 Kerapac Kills, your odds on Normal Mode would be 3/3000 (or 1/1000) to find the Boss Pet.

    Arch Glacor

    Normal Mode

The Arch Glacor's drop rates are impacted by the number of mechanics enabled in Normal Mode. The Arch Glacor also contains a stronger drop table, including a drop of 500 Glacor Remnants.

The chance of finding a Leng Artefact at 5 mechanics enabled is 1/500, and the Scripture of Wen is also 1/500.

The chance of going onto the stronger drop table is 1/200. If on that table, the chance of finding 500 Glacor Remnants is 3/8.

The chance of finding components is 9/100, with modifiers on the drop chances based on the number of mechanics enabled.

    • At 0 Mechanics
      • Dark Nilas: 5/1000
      • Glacor Remnants: 995/1000 to find 5
    • At 1 Mechanic
      • Dark Nilas: 7/1000
      • Glacor Remnants: 993/1000 to find 7
    • At 2 Mechanics
      • Dark Nilas: 11/1000
      • Glacor Remnants: 989/1000 to find 11
    • At 3 Mechanics
      • Dark Nilas: 20/1000
      • Glacor Remnants: 980/1000 to find 20
    • At 4 Mechanics
      • Dark Nilas: 35/1000
      • Glacor Remnants: 965/1000 chance to find 35
    • At 5 Mechanics
      • Dark Nilas: 75/1000
      • Glacor Remnants: 925/1000 to find 75

    Hard Mode

The Arch Glacor uses the Telos streak system, which uses a formula to determine the drops you receive from the boss based on enrage and streaks.

For calculating drops, streaks are a much greater modifier than enrage is. Streaking will ensure your common drops increase in quantity while starting at a higher enrage will ensure your chances to find unique drops begin at a better place.

As we did with Telos, here are some examples of drop rates for the unique droptable for the Arch-Glacor.

    • Streak: 1, Enrage: 100 - 1/494 chance of a unique drop
    • Streak: 1, Enrage: 500 - 1/166 chance of a unique drop
    • Streak: 5, Enrage: 200 - 1/320 chance of a unique drop
    • Streak: 1, Enrage: 999 - 1/91 chance of a unique drop
    • Streak: 25, Enrage: 1500 - 1/60 chance of a unique drop

If you manage to roll a unique drop on Arch-Glacor, these are the drop chances for the unique items:

    • 1/5 chance for a Frozen Core of Leng
    • 2/5 chance for a Scripture of Wen
    • 2/5 chance for a Leng Artifact.

On Hard Mode, your chance to find 75 Dark Nilas is 1/100, regardless of enrage or streak.

    Gladys Pet

The initial chance of finding the Boss Pet is also based on the active mechanics and/or difficulty you are playing on.

    • Hard Mode: 1/1000
    • 5 Mechanics: 1/3000
    • 4 Mechanics: 1/6000
    • 3 Mechanics: 1/9000
    • 2 Mechanics: 1/12000
    • 1 Mechanic: 1/15000
    • 0 Mechanics: 1/18000

The Boss Pet has a threshold of 500 kills - meaning every 500 kills, your odds are increased by a factor of one. This means you should calculate your odds as 1+Threshold/Chance.

    Croesus

As a group boss, Croesus' drops are heavily influenced by your impact on the boss fight. In order to have a chance to receive a unique drop from Croesus, you need a minimum contribution score of 60.

When scoring a 60 or above, the chance of landing on the unique droptable is 1/600. Each of the items on the unique droptable has an equal split chance of 1/9 between them, listed below:

    • Cryptbloom Helm
    • Cryptbloom Body
    • Cryptbloom Legs
    • Cryptbloom Gloves
    • Cryptbloom Boots
    • Croesus Foultorch
    • Croesus Sporehammer
    • Croesus Spore sack
    • Scripture of Bik

Your contribution of the Croesus fight also influences the number of loot rolls you receive, up to a maximum of 12 rolls.

    • 0-19 – 0 drops
    • 20-69 – 1 drop
    • 70 – 129 – 2 drops
    • 130 – 189 – 3 drops
    • 190 – 239 – 4 drops
    • 240 – 279 – 5 drops
    • 280 – 309 – 6 drops
    • 310 – 339 – 7 drops
    • 340 – 359 – 8 drops
    • 360 – 379 – 9 drops
    • 380 – 399 – 10 drops
    • 400 - 419 – 11 drops
    • 420 or above - 12 drops

    Little Sus Pet

The initial chance of finding the Boss Pet is 1/1000. Only one Boss Pet Roll takes place per kill, no matter what your contribution score is.

The Boss Pet has a threshold of 500 kills - meaning every 500 kills, your odds are increased by a factor of one. This means you should calculate your odds as 1+Threshold/3000 or 1+Threshold/1000.

    TzKal-Zuk

    Normal Mode

    • The chance of finding a Scripture of Ful is 1/100.
    • The chance of finding a Magma Tempest Codex is 1/100.

    Hard Mode

Hard Mode contains a secondary roll, independent of the main loot roll, to determine if a Sword Piece will drop.

    • The chance of finding a Sword Piece is 1/30, increasing to 1/27 if no checkpoints are used
    • The chance of finding a Scripture of Ful is 1/50.
    • The chance of finding a Magma Tempest Codex is 1/50.

    Little Zuk Pet

The initial chance of finding the Boss Pet is 1/500 on Normal Mode and 1/300 on Hard Mode.

The Boss Pet has a threshhold of 100 kills - meaning every 100 kills, your odds are increased by a factor of one. This means you should calculate your odds as 1+Threshold/3000 or 1+Threshold/1000.

    Nodon Dragonkin

    Cannon Upgrade Kits

Upgrade kits are contained on a separate drop table with more lucrative loot, with a chance to hit the table based on an independent roll.

    • Nodon Guard/Artificer/Hunter: 1/100
    • Nodon Engineer: 1/40
    • Nodon Enforcer: Guaranteed

If you hit this secondary drop table with more lucrative loot, you have an equal chance to find either the Dwarf Multicannon Upgrade Kit, the Kinetic Cyclone Upgrade Kit or the Oldak Coil Upgrade Kit.

    • Nodon Guard/Artificer/Hunter/Engineer: 3/64
    • Nodon Enforcer: 5/64

    Naressa's Journal

Finding Naressa's Journal is also based on it's own independent roll.

    • Nodon Guard/Artificer/Hunter: 1/800
    • Nodon Engineer: 1/600
    • Nodon Enforcer: 1/20

The Journal is guaranteed at 1600 Nodon Dragonkin kills.

    Tier 3 Elder Troves

    • With a fully upgraded Pontifex Shadow Ring, the chance of finding a Pernix Quiver Fragment is 1/10.
    • The chance of finding a Scripture Manuscript page is 1/50.

      • Treasure Hunter promotion rewards are only affected by the multiplier of the promotion in which they were won.
      • The Treasure Hunter rewards are no longer influenced by the previous promotion's multipliers.
      • When not selected, Invention no longer receives the same amount of XP as the selected skill.

      Store

      • Issue fixed where pressing the back button on the Shop tab of the Marketplace pushes the player into the game.
      • Removed the Sunbather's Hat neck shade to prevent clipping issues.

      Other fixes

      • The 'Top Tip' on the Sinkholes minigame no longer overlaps other UI elements.
      • Players are now able to scroll the Golden Party Hat Hunt list using both the list and the scrollbar.
      • Fixed an issue where some players would receive a message about a new Menaphos City Quest before unlocking the ability to start them.
      • Prevented Frank from blocking player movement in Death's Office and War's Retreat.
      • The archaeologist NPC at the Acropolis has been removed from the game.
      • The Island of Kami-Shima now renders correctly inside the player-owned Ports Map interface.
      • Removed a duplicated message that occurred when attempting to equip an unwearable item.
      • Offhand Shadow Glaive was dealing less damage than expected when paired with a non-Glaive Mainhand. This has been corrected.
      • The Scavenging perk is now triggered on Prifddinas Elves.
      • Fixed an issue with the Sap Spirit curse, which was draining 8% of your opponent’s adrenaline, rather than the intended 10%.
      • Using a Deathtouched Dart on a Blood Nihil while it heals will no longer give XP at the end of the kill.
      • Updated the icon for the War's Retreat teleport.
      • The effect of Terrasaur maul will no longer boost abilities applied with greater barge if the player is not wielding the weapon.

      Presents from the Sledge

      Presents from the Sledge

Now they need your help to gather up scraps of Wrapping Paper from around the world and rewrap the gifts. As a reward for assisting them (and not telling Santa), they’ll let you keep some of the leftover presents!

To pitch in, head to the back right corner of the Grand Exchange.

      image14.png

      Gathering Paper

You'll get Wrapping Paper every so often while skilling, and you'll also receive some from Treasure Hunter promotions throughout December.

      Rewards

You’ll get one Christmas Present for every 200 bits of Wrapping Paper you hand over to the Petes. The Christmas Presents come in four tiers, given out randomly:

      • White
      • Blue
      • Purple
      • Gold

The higher the tier, the better the rewards you’ll get – and all Gold Christmas Presents have the chance to contain 50million GP or a Green Santa Hat! Nice!

Of course, the presents contain a festive assortment of prizes from years gone by, too. Get into the holiday spirit!

This Week In RuneScape: Frank's Free Deaths

This Week In RuneScape: Frank's Free Deaths

Christmas has arrived in Gielinor with festive decorations, an atmosphere of general good cheer, and of course, loads of prezzies! Perhaps the biggest gift this season is for PvMers, as today sees the launch of Frank’s Free Deaths. For the next four weeks you can boss without fear, because we’re taking away death costs for selected adversaries! Read on to find out how, and get all the updates on Christmas events, Merch Store gift ideas and more.

      Frank's Free Deaths
Boss without fear and help us define the future of the Death System!

Are you a nervous PvMer? Would some describe you as risk averse? Perhaps even actively death avoidant? Well today’s your lucky day. It’s the launch of Frank’s Free Deaths!

Yes, starting at today's update, we’re giving you four weeks of free deaths across various bosses, so you can pulverise the bad guys with zero costs should you meet a sticky end. It’s a great opportunity to learn the habits of bosses you've never tackled before, removing the stress for combat beginners while also giving you more experienced PvMers the chance to sharpen your skills. We’ll also get loads of useful data from this event to inform future decisions: we want to reassess death costs in general, so we’ll be listening closely to your feedback and looking at who is playing and how.

So how does it work? Well, Frank is using his connection with his old pal Death to focus on a different set of bosses each week. Oh, and he's definitely not profiting from this at all. Really. Don't worry about it.

This week's featured bosses (starting from today's update and running until midnight 12th/13th December):

Visit Frank at War's Retreat or Death's Office and get to thrashing those baddies! Don’t forget to send us your feedback too!

      Christmas Comes To Gielinor!
Festive vibes and Golden Party Hats

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in RuneScape – right down to the bosses getting a festive new look! You’ll also notice the decorations around Gielinor, giving our magical world that extra special Noël glow. Ahh.

Perhaps you’ll have already started enjoying our seasonal in-game events too. First up, there’s the annual Advent Calendar – make sure to claim your prezzies every day, because it’s all progress towards earning the very special Horizon Sword!

Then there’s the Golden Party Hat Hunt, which runs until January 3rd – this is your chance to make the headgear of RuneScape legend by completing various tasks in exchange for Golden Party Hat shards.

Finally, don’t miss the Wintumber Aurora Yak Track, stacked with spectacular Northern Lights-themed cosmetics and more! That's running until January 9th.

That's not all for this year either - another festive event will make its appearance next week. Yup, we’re going all out for Christmas 2021! Stay tuned…

      Developer Diary: Frank's Free Deaths

      Developer Diary: Frank's Free Deaths

December 6th sees the launch of a new event - Frank's Free Deaths - which offers four weeks of free deaths for assorted bosses. Frank is using his connection with his old mate Death to focus on a different set of bosses each week. Oh, and he's definitely not profiting from this at all. Really. Don't worry about it.

      The schedule is as follows:

      • Week 1: December 6th - 12th
        • Angel of Death, Barrows, Rise of the Six

      • Week 2: December 13th - 19th
        • God Wars Dungeon (Graardor, Kree'arra, K'ril and Zilyana), Heart of Gielinor (Gregorovic, Helwyr, Twin Furies and Vindicta), Nex and Telos

      • Week 3: December 20th - 26th
        • Dagganoth Kings, Kalphite King, Kalphite Queen, King Black Dragon, Queen Black Dragon, Rex Matriarchs and Solak

      • Week 4: December 27th - January 3rd
        • Dragonkin Laboratory, Temple of Aminishi, The Shadow Reef, The Magister and Raksha

"But wait a second," you may say. "Didn't Jagex run free death weeks for ALL bosses very recently in Elder God Wars Dungeon?". And you'd be right! We've been offering these free deaths effectively as an admission that our death system doesn't really work that well, especially when it comes to learning tricky new bosses. Death is not only a problem in terms of costs for the top PvM players, it's also a barrier to casual or mid-tier players trying PvM, as they either don't understand how death works or worry about losing money.

We want to tackle all of these problems, but doing so requires the right data. We don't want to do anything until we're confident we fully understand all of the issues involved. Free death weeks have given us a good amount of data already, but thus far they have been fairly scattershot. Frank's Free Deaths changes that, allowing us to target different bosses and difficulties, while also looking at what sort of players are taking part and how they're playing. By the same token we can also see what content you engage with less.

The bosses for each week have been selected to offer varying difficulty, rewards and areas to play in, with the hope that (almost) everyone has an opportunity to fight a free death boss each week. Indeed, we'd love to see players who may perhaps not normally tackle bosses get stuck in - and perhaps even fight new bosses for the first time.

Because Elder God Wars Dungeon recently had a number of free death weeks, we've decided to leave it out of this event this time. Plus, the data we already have for that will serve as a great comparison for us to learn from.

This is the first step on a long journey toward understanding all of the complexities around reworking death in RuneScape. And it's a journey we've been on for a long time, as we've been working through a ton of players feedback on the issue. The more we learn, the better equipped we will be to provide a solution.

While some may think that the answer is quite obvious (just cap death costs!), death has far-reaching consequences for our economy and newcomers to PvM. Any changes must be considered very carefully. We're sure you appreciate the delicacy!

We hope that this helps you understand our current thoughts, and explains why we're cautious about making changes that will have a huge impact on the game as a whole. As explained above, Frank's Free Deaths is the beginning of some targeted data collection around this subject, and it's likely that you'll be seeing Frank's face again...
