Meet The New EP & Roadmap Revealed!

    Hello everyone,

I’m so excited to finally introduce myself as your Executive Producer on RuneScape. I’m Mod Keeper, and it’s great to meet you!

First of all, let me say a big thank you to all of you for your feedback and comments, which have really helped to shape our plans. I want to push for even more open communication going forward. It’s important you know where we are headed and that you feel your voice is part of that.

    What is my role?

As the EP, I’m here to steer the overall vision for RuneScape. I work with all the leaders across our various development disciplines to set a direction for the game and make sure it keeps hitting the mark!

Since I became EP late last year, I’ve been working with the team to develop a long-term vision for the game. It’s taken longer to get to this message than I originally hoped, but today I can finally share a picture of where we’re taking RuneScape next.

    What do we do next?

Over the next year, we will continue crafting and building wonderful stories through content every month that serve a larger narrative. Through both feedback and player data, we know that you want to see regular content drops mixed with quality of life Ninja Updates and a steady stream of events.

On top of this, we want to follow the structured narrative approach we introduced with Elder God Wars, which will help us with with questions like; where does the story take us, how is the world of Gielinor changing, how is that playing out for new and existing players, how do rewards tie in and how can we make sure progression is both meaningful and fun?

In the coming months, I'm looking forward to revealing what that means in earnest, starting with the release of the long-awaited '5th boss'! However, I don't want to leave you hanging today. Let’s take a look at the road ahead – not just so you can get excited for what’s coming, but also to open up more possibilities to add your feedback to our work as we go.

Here's a look at just some of the things you can expect this year from RuneScape:

Click here to view the Roadmap fullscreen

This is far from everything in our plans, but I hope you feel it gives you a good look at some of the bigger moments to come over the next 6 months. We’ll be able to go into even more detail this summer.

What else can we look forward to?

A philosophy I really want to bring to RuneScape's development is to improve the game’s quality through working smarter. By optimising the way we develop, we can do more with monthly releases and spend more time on quality assurance.

We have already started work on several initiatives in the ‘work smarter’ category, including tool improvements, boosts to server performance, client stability, general user experience tweaks, changes to account security, services updates and running beta servers. Mod Mac shared some first information on the account security and services aspect in a previous blog – take a look if you’d like to find out more!

Given the scale of RuneScape, the work and effort going into running and maintaining everything is significant. While some of these changes might not be felt immediately by you as players, we have a clear direction to guide us into the next era of RuneScape - and it’s all thanks to you, our community! What I’ve shared today is just the start of this journey, and I hope it really gets you excited for what’s to come - and feels like a first signal on how we'll be changing our communication over the coming year.

Stay tuned for more regular updates from me and the team. Until then, keep safe and see you in Gielinor!

    Upcoming Improvements To Treasure Hunter

    Hey 'Scapers,

We've been continuing to improve and refine the Treasure Hunter experience over the past few years. Our last major update focused on adding more transparency, primarily through Probability Disclosures, but also by simplifying the experience and removing the near-defunct Hearts of Ice to focus on Oddments.

Next Monday, we're looking to deliver three more key improvements to the Treasure Hunter experience:

    • Focus on Oddments and simplify the user experience for prize choices.
    • Address some balancing and in-game economy issues with certain items, such as Silverhawk Feathers.
    • Improve the Oddments Store experience in general.

The Oddments Store has become an increasingly important part of the Treasure Hunter experience, with the ability to turn unwanted prizes into a flexible currency that you can spend on past Yak Track cosmetics, or consumables like Lamps or Stars.

With this update, our plan is to improve the overall experience, from updating the UI to removing limited daily sales while reducing Oddments pricing.

One of the ways we'll also do this is by removing the conflicting layers of the Oddments Store and the multi-prize selection. After this update, all the focus will be on Oddments as the prize opt-out for players who don’t want their initial prize. This will then give us the opportunity to address some balancing issues caused by the conflicting systems, especially the most affected items such as Silverhawk Feathers, Proteans and Springs.

Here's a look at the full list of changes to come:

    Oddments Store

    Content Improvements

    • Added the Legendary Pets Water Lycan and Fire Lycan into the Oddments Store for 50,000 Oddments each.
    • Removed randomised sales from Treasure Hunter Keys, Medium Prismatic Lamps and Medium Prismatic Stars, but slightly lowered their prices.
    • Doubled the daily purchase caps on Treasure Hunter Keys, Medium Prismatic Lamps, Medium Prismatic Stars, Small Protean Packs, Cinder Cores and Pulse Cores in the Oddments Store.

    • Added a ‘New!’ banner for items that have just been added to the Oddments Store. This will show for 14 days.
    • Added banners to every item with a daily purchase cap, which will display the number of purchases remaining for that day.
    • The Oddments store now uses the preview screen of the Spotlight tab. The preview screen has been updated to show more visual previews of outfits, pets and animations.
    • Oddments Store item cards now show prices with separators at a cost of 1,000 Oddments or above.
    • Increased the size of item card icons in the Oddments Store.
    • Replaced any low-resolution item card icons in the Oddments Store with high resolution ones.
    • Stopped the scroll position in the Oddments Store from resetting when clicking on an item card.
    • Standardised item names and descriptions as well as purchase messages in the Oddments Store.
    • Updated the order of item cards in the Oddments Store so that filling columns is now prioritised over filling rows.

    Other

    • Added a + button to the Oddments Store count in the header of the Marketplace which opens the Treasure Hunter interface when clicked.

    • The multiple-choice Treasure Hunter prize selection screen has been removed.
    • Oddment prizes have been removed from the Treasure Hunter drop table.
    • The number of portable items received from portable packs has been reduced.
      • Any unopened portable packs acquired before April 25th will not be impacted.

    Patch Notes
Fixes and improvements in this week's game update

    Mobile Ninja Strike Patch Notes

    Top-level Mobile Interface

    • The right-hand menu is now fixed, and can no longer be customised.
    • Windows (such as Backpack) have been reduced in size to use up less screen space, and their contents (such as Backpack slots) have been reduced in size slightly.
    • Updated border added to the right-hand child windows and minimap.
    • Header added to access desktop's footer buttons (e.g. Currency Pouch).
    • Footer added to each child window, displaying the single most prominent button and an info display (e.g. Currency Pouch and Coins).
    • Hardcoded tab support has been added, which is utilised by mobile Ability Books.
    • The icon for the Prayer book has been updated to look closer to the desktop icon instead of a book, to avoid confusion between three book icons.
    • The icons for the Summoning and Prayer Point displays have been improved, more clearly indicating which is which.
    • A new setting has been added into Gameplay Settings → Interfaces → UI Customisation to make the right-hand combat buttons always visible.
      • If enabled, windows such as the Backpack may have a scrollbar when combat mode is active.
      • Taller screens such as tablets will display the right-hand buttons and a full size window if there is enough space, regardless of this setting.
      • Many players wanted this to never scroll, and many wanted to always have access to combat abilities. Now, the choice is yours!
    • A long-press option has been added to the Chat Modes button.
      • This provides quick access to switching between chat modes without needing to access the Chat Settings interface.
    • The Loot window has been moved from the centre of the screen, and is now towards the top-left.
      • Opening the Chat panel closes the Loot window.
      • Opening the Loot window while the Chat panel is open will allow both to be open together.

    Cross-Platform Improvements

    • The red font used in warning messages has been changed to a lighter colour, as the darkness often contrasted poorly with the game world.
    • The Worn interface Aura slot now has a graphic indicating it access settings when an aura is not active.
    • The Notes interface has been improved, with the desktop window now resizing correctly and both platforms having backgrounds for each entry.

    General Mobile Improvements

    • Drag responsiveness has been improved.
    • The mouseover highlight when dragging an item in the Inventory is now available on mobile.

    General Patch Notes

    Easter

    • Removed the catch success animation for the Giant Guthixian Butterfly to help improve performance on worlds with a high population count.

    Elder God Wars

    • It's now possible to return to the Seren dialogue before Phase 3 of the Extinction quest.

    User Interface

    • Fixed the overlapping sections of the Player-Owned Farm noticeboard interface.

    Others

    • Players will no longer be told that they cannot play Treasure Hunter when leaving an active dungeoneering dungeon.
    • TzKal-Zuk's 'Immune' hitmark now shows in the correct language when using non-English clients.
    • Fixed an issue where the Superglass Make spell was requiring the As A First Resort quest rather than the Dream Mentor quest to be unlocked.
    • The Aura Management interface will no longer direct you to buy Auras from the Loyalty Store if they are only available in Wars Retreat.

It was really important for the board game to appeal to 'Scapers of all kinds. Whether you're a full member or a free-to-play adventurer, and whether you play Old School RuneScape or RuneScape (or both!) you'll be experiencing the world you love in an authentically familiar tabletop adventure.

    Iconic Locations

RuneScape is over 20 years old, and therefore absolutely enormous. Steamforged knew it would be impossible to do justice to every location, so they have focused on Asgarnia and Misthalin. As the first realms created in the video games, and the core of the free-to-play areas, they're rich in content and central to any new player's journey. We wanted anyone experiencing Gielinor on tabletop to have that same sense of anticipation felt by players starting out in RuneScape!

And now the part you've all been waiting for…

    Miniature Reveal!

    AllMinis.png

Steamforged have developed a unique visual style for the RuneScape Kingdoms minis to reflect iconic outfits, NPCs and bosses from the past 21 years. This look is inspired by RuneScape's low-poly roots, but with all the detail you'd expect from a thoroughly modern mini.

These first three minis give a taste of that style, and we look forward to revealing more in the coming weeks!

Certain types of players may be drawn to certain minis, but remember – no matter which mini you choose it's entirely up to you how you build your skills, select your equipment, and explore Gielinor.

    Knight

A melee powerhouse clad in trusty bronze armour, the knight faces every challenge with brash determination. In the eyes of the knight, there's no problem that can't be solved with a swing of their scimitar!

    Wizard

Through magic, all things are possible. Whether teleporting long distances, enchanting items with magical properties, or casting foes aside with elemental spells, the wizard is a blue-robed paragon of quick wit and explosions.

    Elvarg

No hero is complete without their villainous counterpart. You'll face many challenges on the way to face the mighty green dragon, Elvarg! Take the ultimate champion's test and put an end to the winged terror of Crandor, before Gielinor is consumed by shadow and fire…

    Follow All The Action

Want to find out more? Keep an eye on the Steamforged blog as they take you on a Tutorial Island-style tour of the game in the run-up to the Kickstarter!

Want to back the game on Kickstarter? Follow the campaign now so you're ready for launch!

    Extinction: Rewards Update

    Extinction: Rewards Update

    Hey everyone,

We hope you’ve been enjoying Elder God Wars: Extinction, and thank you for sharing your thoughts about the rewards. As this is our first Grandmaster quest in over five years, we know you've been working extra hard for that sweet loot.

We've listened to your feedback, and today we're pleased to announce that we'll be introducing some powerful new rewards on April 25th! As well as these extra goodies, we'll also be giving you more XP and some juicy new prizes for skilling. Let's dig into the details.

    New Rewards

    • Upgrade to the Pontifex Shadow Ring

This nifty upgrade increases the drop chance for all Elder God Wars bosses, so you can reap even more glorious benefits for your hard work.

    • Passive Ring of Vigour Effect (Warped Gem + Ring of Vigour)

A serious power boost for combat players! You can now speak to Vicendithas to gather a Warped Gem. Rumour has it that by combining this precious stone with a Ring of Vigour, you'll be able to unlock the Ring’s effect, regardless of what you're wearing on your finger…

    Changes to XP

    • 150 XP per 3 ticks has become 175 XP per 3 ticks.
    • 10:1 XP ratio changed to 10:5 XP ratio.
    • You can now store up to 350,000 XP at your skilling station!
    • Already built your skilling station? Don't worry, you won't be penalised for completing it early - you'll receive 120,000 XP to your stored XP.
    • A new build gives 135,000 XP to storage instead of 15,000 XP.
    • This equates to 43,000 XP per day over selected skills if storage is kept up.

With this upgrade, we're also upping the loot you get for skilling with some powerful new drops. Grab all manner of materials and items from the skilling stations in the Dream, including:

    • Dinosaur Eggs.
    • Laboratory Relics from Dragonkin lab.
    • Necklace of Salamancy – this can grant extra bonuses against Slayer dinosaurs and the Rex Matriarchs, plus a way to shrink yourself into a lizard-like body!
    • Plus more useful goodies we won't spoil for you here!

We've also added a Bank to the area for your convenience.

While we await these changes, we have added a quick fix to the Grace Period on the Master Quest Cape - a little something to tide you over!

Looking ahead, it’s also worth mentioning that the next update will require you to have completed Extinction, and will teach you how to craft something you can use for countless other boss fights waiting for you in Gielinor... so you have that to look forward to as well.

Anyway, that's all on the updates for now. We hope you enjoy the new rewards!

2022 Account Services and Player Security Improvements

Our commitment to leveling up our Account Services and Player Security continues, and we know it’s something many of you passionately want to see improved. We can't stress enough how much we appreciate that RuneScape accounts are more than just a game save – they’re the embodiment of your adventures, your hard-earned accomplishments, and your valuable time. You want to know that they are protected at all costs, and there are clearly areas where we can do better. We hear you.

In 2019, we started a journey which has transformed the way we have approached account security. This was an evolutionary and, in places, revolutionary process. We stepped up to the challenge of old technology and spaghettified code.

To ensure we achieve our goal of providing a best-in-class service, the Publishing Platform team has been working diligently on the New Publishing Platform. The primary projects releasing in 2022 are the Jagex Launcher and Jagex Accounts.

    Jagex Launcher

    Launcher3.pngThe Windows Beta Launcher

The Jagex Launcher Windows Beta is live, and it is just the tip of the iceberg.

We encourage everyone to give it a go. The launcher remembers your account credentials, makes it faster and easier to play the game, solves the “Too many logins…” issue, and allows the log out of everywhere with the press of a button.

Download the launcher here: Jagex Launcher Webpage

The beta is just the beginning, here are the remaining releases for this year:

    • Initial RuneLite support – If you happen to play both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape, we are currently working with Adam at RuneLite to integrate his OSRS client with the launcher. The first step will be making the launcher compatible with existing RuneLite installs and offer a download link if the person doesn’t yet have RuneLite.
    • Multiple RuneScape Accounts - Soon, you’ll be able to add all your RuneScape accounts into the launcher, authenticate them and then switch between characters, or play them simultaneously, with ease.
    • Commercial release of the launcher – macOS support, improved UI, and full RuneLite integration and installation

    Jagex Accounts

In parallel, we are preparing to release the new Jagex Account System, which is focused on player security and robustness of service.

On the initial release, Jagex accounts offer the following benefits:

    • Improved password complexity, including use of special characters and case-sensitivity
    • Stronger multi-factor authentication, with backup codes
    • Email notifications for new device log ins and when account changes are made
    • Additional verification on repeat log in attempts
    • Enhanced bot protection
    • Improved account recovery flow

    Jagex Account Screenshots

    Login1.pngLogin2.pngLogin7.pngLogin4.png

Jagex Accounts will be released in three stages. First, we will allow the creation of new Jagex accounts. Then, we will offer a simple migration process to upgrade from a RuneScape account to a Jagex account. And finally, we will allow multiple RuneScape accounts to be merged into a single Jagex account, so that all your characters can be accessed with a one set of login credentials. At that point, there will be a character selection and management screen in-game, and creating a new character will require just a single click.

    Account Migration Steps

    Launcher-verify-new.png

    Step 1: Verify Ownership

    Launcher-setup-new.png

Step 2: Set up Jagex Account

    Launcher-account-new.png

    Step 3: Use New Account

    Live Chat with Customer Service

Additionally, we are also investigating additional service enhancements. Live chat with Customer Services becomes feasible for us as we will be able to verify that the person we are chatting to is the owner of the account. We are in the process of upgrading the Support Centre and will explore offering a form of live chat for some support queries to understand the challenges and benefits to players before we determine if this is something we can roll out to some or all players.

    In Closing

The publishing platform team is excited to be delivering value to you this year. As features are released, we intend to keep everyone informed via news posts, blogs, and an occasional live stream.

Discuss this announcement on our official forums, the community-led RuneScape Reddit, or the community-led RS Discord.

    Elder God Wars Quest: Extinction

    Elder God Wars Quest: Extinction

The final reckoning of the Elder Gods is upon us. The fate of the known universe hangs in the balance. World guardian - brace yourself for Elder God Wars: Extinction!

This April, the year-long Elder God Wars saga reaches its epic conclusion. Extinction is RuneScape’s first Grandmaster quest since 2016, giving you over three hours of challenging gameplay where you’ll have to enlist multiple allies, take on bloodthirsty enemies and battle for the future of Gielinor in an earth-shattering last stand!

    The story so far

Behind the trials and tribulations of the Elder God Wars saga, one terrifying possibility has always loomed large: the hatching of the Elder God eggs. If touched by the Elders, they would burst forth and consume the planet, followed by the universe as we know it.

This would not be an ideal state of affairs, obviously.

And so, the eggs were brought to Senntisten, where Saradomin, Armadyl, Seren, and Zamorak began to drain their anima. In response, the four Elder Gods each sent a General to attack and reclaim them, but the battle reached a stalemate – at least, until Zamorak left the alliance, tipping the balance in the Elders' favour.

    Screenshot_4_v2_1920x1080.png

Your final quest will see you return to Senntisten, where all fronts are now attacking with even greater intensity to claim the Elder God eggs. Two key characters will come to the fore: Moia (a half-Mahjarrat general of Zamorak) and Hebe, an obscure Saradominist hero. You’ll have to make new allies and travel across Gielinor to determine the fate of the world – once and for all.

    Getting started

Elder God Wars: Extinction is a high-level, members-only adventure.

You’ll need to have completed the following quests:

    • Desperate Measures
    • City of Senntisten
    • Eye of Het II

To fully grasp the lore, we also recommend playing through the following quest lines (although these are optional):

    • Sliske's Endgame
    • One of a Kind
    • Sins of the Father

    roadmap-EN.png

    Rewards Galore!

Elder God Wars: Extinction is tough stuff, but the rewards are suitably juicy. Here’s what you’ll stand to gain from this cosmic adventure:

    • 4 Quest Points
    • 4x 175k XP Lamps
    • A new high-level skilling location
      • Access to high-tier resource-limited rates in six skills: Fletching, Hunter, Herblore, Crafting, Construction and Fishing. Anachronia base camp resources can be used for skilling. This is also repeatable content (10 hours of activity)!

Is this it for Gielinor? Find out next month – the battle begins on April 4th!

Meet Callista: a new legendary pet

Meet Callista: a new legendary pet

A new Legendary pet has come roaring into the Marketplace! Callista is a direct descendant of Odysseus, the faithful panther companion of Robert the Strong. This fearsome feline friend will fight at your side through thick and thin!

Callista is available from the Marketplace for 1,083 RuneCoins, or 974 RuneCoins for Members.

Not familiar with Legendary pets? Here’s the lowdown. Legendary pets are unique because they grow and change over time, entering three different stages: baby, juvenile, and adult. At each stage, they’ll gain a new slot for a unique ability, up to a maximum of three. They’ll also gain a new emote at each stage! Callista’s emotes are as follows:

    Baby: Cleaning Time

    Juvenile: Shadow Pouncing

    Adult: Big Cat Standoff

Once your pet unlocks a new life stage, you can swap between them whenever you want – just visit the Pet interface.

Can’t wait to see your pet grow up? Feed them a Tasty Treat to increase their growth rate by 50%, or a Jelly Treat to increase it by 100%!

One last thing – Legendary pets can override familiars, so you can bring them along on all your adventures!

Callista will arrive in the Marketplace on March 28th. She can’t wait to meet you!

Update On Account Security & Services

Update On Account Security & Services

Hey everyone, Mod Mac here, Vice President of Product & Player Strategy.

Today, I wanted to share an update on our commitment to level up our Account Security & Services.

We know this is something many of you passionately want to see improved. RuneScape accounts are more than just a game save – they’re the embodiment of your adventures, your hard-earned accomplishments and your valuable time. You want to see that they are protected at all costs and there’s clear areas where we can do better. We hear you.

So, in 2019, we set off on a multi-year mission to make those long-desired improvements a reality. We were faced with old technologies, spaghettified code, and ultimately a legacy codebase was not up to the task. So, we began the complex endeavour of architecting the new Jagex Publishing Platform in parallel with a myriad of additional efforts to make RuneScape better, and we’re finally bringing these improvements to life.

Here’s just some of what’s to come this year:

    Stronger Account Security

We’ll be strengthening our password systems to finally support more complex passwords, while also adding additional protection to shut down brute force password attempts.

We’re also adding support for Multi-Factor Authentication recovery codes should you lose access to your 2FA device. With our upcoming Jagex Account system, we’ll also be introducing the ability to link all your characters under a single set of login credentials too.

    Improved Player Support Centre

We know the existing account recovery process can be a point of frustration, so we’ve made sure to offer a much-improved solution as part of the new upcoming Jagex Account system.

We’re also working on an upgraded Support Centre experience, including exploring a Live Chat service for select support queries, to improve the accessibility of our Player Support.

    The Jagex Launcher

Our Jagex Launcher just launched into Open Beta, and it’s the first step in providing a more seamless, secure experience on Desktop. We have much more to come that will enable faster and more convenient play.

On top of these upcoming changes, we’ve also been working on other to better protect your experience. Whilst we know there’s a lot more to do, I’d like to share some of our progress to date:

    Reinforced Protection of Character Data

The Login Lockout was a perfect storm of a number of failure points, including hardware. We never want our players to go through something like that again.

We’ve significantly upgraded our cyber resilience both at a hardware and software level to protect against this, while also implementing cloud-based save backups to keep your characters safe.

    The War On Bots

Bots are a detrimental factor to your experience. In 2020, we shut down the RSBot from the Powerbot website – and we’ll continue our zero-tolerance approach both in and out of game.

Right now, we’re banning around 100,000 Bots per week. While our systems are not bulletproof, we’re making continual improvements to our systems to keep Bots out of the game as best we can.

    Safeguarding The Experience

Protecting the economy is something we know is important to everyone, and last year, we expanded our efforts to tackle Real World Trading (RWT) on a number of levels.

We’ve begun to target the demand for RWT gold by issuing warnings, timed bans and permanent bans to Gold Buyers. To date, we’ve issued 38,000 warnings and bans to players.

We’ve been continuing to target the supply of RWT by shutting down sellers - beginning with Arcus & Bogla gold selling sites in 2019, with 18 more shut down over the past year. More will follow.

We’ve also removed the Duel Arena as it was a flashpoint for toxic behaviour from the game – which accounted for 38% of all RWT bans.

One thing you may not know is that fraudulent payments are a part of third-party Gold sales and RWT too. To combat this, we’ve introduced a top-of-the-range system to track and block fraudulent payments which will limit the incentives for bad actors to attempt stealing accounts.

    In Closing

We are fully committed to making RuneScape progressively better and the fruits of multiple years of efforts will be realized this year.

Members of the team will be joining the RuneScape Q&A Livestream this Wednesday (March 23rd) to go into this into even more detail. Please do join us if you’d like to hear more.

Thank you for your continued support and happy ‘Scaping!

--Mod Mac and the Publishing Platform team

    Choose your retro skins!

    Choose your retro skins!

Every adventurer needs a few essentials to succeed in Gielinor. Strength, courage, wit, honour – and of course, snazzy in-game items!

Where would we be without our trusty tunics, dashing capes and dazzling headgear? Somewhere a lot less stylish, that’s for sure. Whether you’re a fashionscape fanatic or just want to look tough when you take on the bosses, collecting items is a key part of the RuneScape experience. It’s your reward for all that hard work (and tangible evidence you kicked butt on your latest quest, natch).

Our lovely community always has a ton of ideas for new cosmetics, too. We’ve received some incredibly imaginative player suggestions for new skins over the years, and we know you’ve been asking to get involved in the process.

Now, we’re handing over the creative reins. Yep, we’re calling on you to nominate retro skin cosmetics you would like to see in RuneScape!

This will be a process with a few steps, but the first bit is over to you – and it couldn’t be simpler. Send us your best ideas on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit or Discord using the hashtag #RS3retroskins! It could be any outfit or cosmetic alteration to an existing item, on any theme.

Hurry, though – you have until 23:59 Game Time on March 25th to send us your suggestions. After that, we’ll create a shortlist to put up to a public vote. The top five will make up a ‘Community Bundle’ of fantastic new items!

We can’t wait to see what you come up with. Will your idea become the must-have RuneScape item of the summer? Best of luck!

    Patch Notes
Fixes and improvements in this week's game update

    Ninja Strike

    Boss Encounters

    • Vorago
      • Removed the delay at the end of each gap jump within the borehole, making the transition smoother.
      • Added a timer bar to Vorago showing charge time for the entry attack.
      • Reduced the charge time of Vorago's entry attack from 33 cycles (19.8 seconds) to 20 cycles (12 seconds).
      • Vorago's entry attack now deals 70% of your max life points in Normal Mode, and 90% in Hard Mode, as opposed to a fixed amount shared between players.
      • The encounter will start even if a player is killed by Vorago's entry attack.
      • In solo encounters, players can now jump the gap in the first phase without needing Vorago to be facing away from them.
      • In phase two the gravity fields required to progress have been reduced from 4 to 2.
      • In phase two, the 'bring him down' activity is now twice as fast.
        • Increased the bleed damage from 150 to 250 in Normal Mode, and from 250 to 400 in Hard Mode, to accommodate this change.
    • Raksha
      • Raksha will no longer change targets unexpectedly, as it has been doing in rare cases.
        • This will mostly stop Raksha from attacking the first player to attack it, instead targeting the player who began the encounter.
      • Updated the rockfall damage area from 7x7 to 5x5, to better fit the size of the visuals.
      • In phase four, various blocked tiles have been removed from the west pipes.
      • Also in phase four, the shadow anima will now be absorbed more consistently when moving within close proximity.
      • The shadow anima no longer has an 'absorb' option, to prevent accidental interactions.
    • Queen Black Dragon
      • Reduced the length of the intro animation for players who have previously defeated the Queen Black Dragon.
    • Nex
      • Reduced the length of the intro animation to allow the encounter to start faster.
    • TzKal-Zuk
      • The portal at War's Retreat and the Max Guild can now be attuned to an alternate arrival point in front of TzKal-Zuk.
        • The Fateful Portal at War's Retreat has been updated with similar functionality.
    • Elite Dungeons
      • The drop rate of unique items across the modes has been increased to give a unified drop rate per clear:
    • Temple of Aminishi
      • Ancient Scales will now drop from Seiryu at 50% and 33% of the solo rates in duo and trio mode respectively. These rates are per player.
    • Dragonkin Laboratory
      • Draconic Energy will now drop from the Black Stone Dragon at 50% and 33% of the solo rates in duo and trio mode respectively. These rates are per player.
      • Greater Ability Codices from Astellarn, Verak Lith and Black Stone Dragon (per player).
        • Solo - 100/10,000 becomes 120/10,000.
        • Duo - 60/10,000 (unchanged).
        • Trio - 40/10,000 (unchanged).
    • The Shadow Reef
      • Eldritch Crossbow pieces from the Ambassador (per player).
        • Solo - 180/10,000 (unchanged).
        • Duo - 60/10,000 becomes 90/10,000.
        • Trio - 38/10,000 becomes 60/10,000.

    Abilities & Spells

    • Smoke Tendrils – “It's not a bug, it's a feature…”
      • If you’ve been using the Smoke Cloud or the Staff of Armadyl since their recent introduction, you may have happened upon a hidden bonus – they both work with the Smoke Tendrils ability to guarantee a critical strike! While this feature wasn't originally intended, it's lead to some interesting interactions that we rather like. So, we've made some changes to ensure critical strike functionality is part of the Smoke Tendrils ability itself, rather than a bug:
        • Damage is now calculated in a more standardised way.
        • It will no longer give adrenaline twice per hit when affected by the Tsunami ability.
        • It will be affected by both the Precise and Equilibrium invention perks.
        • It will give a critical strike on each hit reliably.
        • The damage inflicted on the player is now calculated separately from the damage dealt.
        • A critical strike that increases the damage into the top 95% can still occur through the Biting Invention perk and other bonuses.
    • The Ruby Aurora spell now reliably applies the buff to other players.
    • The Havoc, Snipe and Dragon Breath abilities can now be used to temporarily disable Akrisae the Doomed's prayers.
    • The Impatient Invention perk will now work with Slice, Piercing Shot, Wrack, and Wrack & Ruin.
    • The Surge, Escape and Bladed Dive abilities will no longer cause you to enter combat stance.
      • Using these abilities while in combat stance will still maintain it.
      • Using these abilities while adrenaline is draining will still cause you to enter combat stance.
