Bounty Hunter Rework: Day 1 Feedback

Bounty Hunter Rework: Day 1 Feedback

Bounty Hunter Rework: Day 1 Feedback

Yesterday we closed the Bounty Hunter Rework Beta and released it in the live game. Since then, players have flooded to Edgeville to try out the changes and let us know what they think!

Based on the initial feedback, we would like to make some changes. The list below is by no means exhaustive; we'll be making a note of any other important issues that crop up. Note that these changes aren't guaranteed to come next week as we are now focusing on the Twisted League - but don't worry, they're coming soon.

Here are the changes you can look forward to:
    • The Rune Pouch is now less accessible to PKers who play on PvP worlds rather than the Bounty Hunter minigame. In response, we'd like to reduce its cost in the Bounty Hunter shop to 15 points, down from 75.
    • For similar reasons, we'd like to reduce the cost of the Looting Bag from 4 Bounty Points to 2.
    • To encourage players to attempt the Player Bounty Tasks, we'd like to reduce their rotation time from 30 minutes to 20.
    Hotspots

Some of you have pointed out that bonuses to emblem upgrades are not an appropriate reward for getting kills in hotspots because it's unrealistic to expect players to bring three emblems to deep parts of the Wilderness.

It has also come to our attention that some players have boosted the system, so a hotfix has been rolled out to reduce the number of upgraded emblems from each killstreak from three to one. In the meantime, we'll reconsider the incentives for killing targets in hotspots.

We're also aware of suggestions for a 'Teleport to Hotspot'. While this would make hotspots more inviting, it's not clear what the effects of creating the ability to teleport to so many different parts of the Wilderness might be. We'd like to hold off on this idea until the hotspot benefits are solidified.

    Another Message About Unofficial Clients

    Another Message About Unofficial Clients

    Changelog 8th November 2019

We’ve further clarified that manual tile markers are not prohibited by the rules which prohibit automatic tile markers.

We’ve added confirmation that RuneLite have fully complied with the rules within this statement.

In the week before RuneFest we published a message about unofficial clients. In that statement we outlined some of the client features that we consider to be unacceptable and anticipated that moving forwards we were going to be more proactive to the issue, whilst exploring exciting options for our own client. It has since become apparent that we didn't provide enough clarity – the list of unacceptable features was too ambiguous, confusing players and client developers.

We’d like to thank RuneLite for their cooperation and for fully complying with the rules within this statement.

We'd like to reiterate why we're doing this. Outlining and enforcing these rules is vital to protect the integrity of the game, as well as its economy and long-term health. This isn't about us unfairly punishing players by making the game more difficult.

    hr.png

To try and clear up any confusion, here’s a more detailed run-down of our intentions:

Any features which aid any boss fights by doing any of the following are prohibited (this includes all Raids sub-bosses, Slayer bosses, Demi-bosses, and wave-based minigames, including the Fight Caves and Inferno😞

    • Next attack prediction (timing or attack style)
    • Projectile targets, or target locations, as well as impact locations
    • Prayer switching indicators
    • Attack counters
    • Anything that automatically indicates where to stand, or not to stand. This applies to only automatic indicators, and not tiles which have been manually marked.
    • Removal or swapping of menu entries on any entity

In addition, the following menu changes are prohibited:

    • Any menu modifications on worn/equipped items
    • Any addition of new menu entries which cause actions to be sent to the server

The following interface changes are prohibited:

    • Any unhiding of interface components, such as the special attack bar and including the minimap (for example, in Barrows)
    • Any movement or resizing of click zones for 3d components
    • Any movement or resizing of click zones for any interface or component under combat options, inventory, worn equipment, prayers or spell book

    hr.png

Here’s a larger list of specific feature examples which are unacceptable. This is still not exhaustive but should give a clearer idea what is not acceptable.

    Any feature which... Category
Indicates where projectiles will land Combat
Indicates the time where a boss mechanic may start or end Combat
Adds additional visual or audio indicators of a boss mechanic Combat

Indicates how long an opponent is frozen for Combat
Automatically informs you where or where not to stand in a boss fight. This applies to only automatic indicators, and not tiles which have been manually marked. Combat
Makes it easier to target 3D entities with a spell by removing some options Combat
Indicates which player an NPC is focused on Combat

Which gives summary information about a group of players, such as how many players are attackable and not in your own CC, what prayers they are mostly using, etc Combat

Modifies menu options for blackjacking, such as 'Pickpocket' and 'Knock-out' Menus
Modifies menu options for construction, such as prioritising build/remove options Menus

Reorders or removes player-based options, such as ‘Trade with’ Menus
Offers world interaction in any detached camera mode Misc
Allows you to prioritise the walk-here option by holding a certain key, or similar Misc

Any features which act similarly to those described in the above list can also be considered unacceptable, and as we become aware of features we reserve the right to add features to the list in future.

    hr.png

We’ll continue to work with players and developers alike in order to make it perfectly clear what is not acceptable. We do not wish to unfairly punish anybody, but we will take necessary action in order to protect our position. This includes banning accounts which use these features, as well as taking action against those who develop and share such features. We’ll soon be formalising this stance in the official Rules of RuneScape, and we’re actively improving our capability to detect these features.

Thank you for working with us. We firmly believe that this is for the betterment of the game. With your assistance we can solve the issue of detrimental third-party features and focus our efforts on the improvement of our own client.

    Bounty Hunter Rework

    Bounty Hunter Rework
This week sees the return of the Bounty Hunter minigame.

    hr.png
    The Bounty Hunter Rework

    skull2.png

After three weeks of testing and tweaking, the Bounty Hunter rework has been added to the live game. We'd like to thank everyone for participating in the Beta and giving valuable feedback.

Although we're officially re-opening the minigame, we'll continue to monitor feedback and make adjustments as required.

For anyone who missed the Beta, here's what you can expect from the new version of Bounty Hunter:

    Points and Reward System

    Points and Killstreaks

Bounty Hunters now receive Bounty Points for killing their target. Killing several targets in a row will begin a killstreak that awards more points. Currently, you'll receive 3, 4 or 5 points per kill on killstreaks of 0, 3 and 10, respectively.

Bonus points are also awarded for milestone kills (separately from killstreaks) as seen in the table below:

    bonus_kills.png

    Player Bounties (Tasks)

10 points are also given for completing optional tasks, or 'Bounties' that cycle every 30 minutes. The tasks you receive will be limited to what is possible on your account and can be skipped for free up to three times a day. Your tasks will change every 30 minutes - you must wait for the time to deplete before receiving a new one, even if the current Bounty is complete.

Most Bounties involve killing your target with a handicap, offering extra rewards to Bounty Hunters who are skilled enough to complete them, while giving less experienced ones a better chance of winning their fight.

A button for checking, skipping and enabling/disabling Bounties can be found in the new Bounty Hunter interface.

    The Rewards Shop

The new Bounty Points can be spent on rewards from the Emblem Trader's new shop. This contains all the items found there previously (re-costed for the new system) and these additions:
    • Bounty Crates - costing 5 points, these contain a variety of PKing supplies, including the occasional Mysterious Emblems or Ornate Maul Handles.

    • Teleport to Target Teletabs - for 1 point each, these will teleport you to your current target if you have the spell unlocked.

    • Decorative Mysterious Emblems - costing 100 points, this is used to create the Emblems displayed in your POH.

    • A Bounty Hunter hat that upgrades from tier 1 to 6 based on how many target kills you have. The hat changes at these milestones: 1, 25, 100, 250, 1000 and 2500. This reward is free from the shop.
    hats.png

    hr.png
    Unique Rewards

We hoped to offer some unique rewards for Bounty Hunter. Unfortunately they didn't pass the poll, so they haven't been added. However, we're very much aware that the polling system hasn't been working well in instances where many of the voters don't engage in the content. We're considering alternative ways of offering such updates; perhaps by limiting access to the poll to only those players who've recently engaged with similar content. We're aware that such a requirement could be farmed, and so we'd have to require that the activity had taken place within a window of time before each relevant poll. This way, players hoping to farm the requirements in order to spite vote will have to continue to put in effort each time.

As part of this, we'd commit to designing such updates to minimise their impact on players who weren't invited to vote in the poll. For example, a new PvP weapon might be usable only in PvP.

But these new polls wouldn't just be about PvP. Boss content and skilling content could potentially be treated in the same way.

This may not be the right solution for Old School RuneScape, though, and we're open to alternative approaches, including working with a council of players to guide the designs in the first place.

We'll put out a survey in the coming weeks to see how the community feels about this sort of thing. If it's acceptable, we hope to use it to offer more fitting rewards for Bounty Hunter.

    Mysterious Emblems

    emblem.PNG

Those of you who had Mysterious Emblems from before this update will notice that they have begun to crumble and are now known as Archaic Emblems. They can still be used to access the old version of the Emblem Trader's shop.

New Mysterious Emblems work differently. Ranging from tiers 1 to 5, they can be bought and sold at the Emblem Trader for 75k, 150k, 300k, 600k, and 1.2M respectively.

To upgrade a Mysterious emblem, you'll need to kill a target who is carrying an Emblem of equal or higher tier. When you do, your will go up a tier (doubling in value) and theirs will disappear. High risk, high reward!

When carrying an Emblem in the minigame, the interface will show if your target is carrying an Emblem that would make you eligible for an upgrade. If the target will not allow you to upgrade, you can skip them without a penalty, giving you the option to prioritise targets with Emblems that match your tier. can skip them without a penalty, giving you the option to prioritise targets with Emblems that match your tier.

    Hotspots

During the Beta, we introduced a player-suggested mechanic called hotspots. These are zones, distributed throughout the Wilderness, that activate on rotation every 30 minutes. To be eligible for hotspot bonuses, you'll need a minimum combat level of 50 and you'll also need to be carrying a Mysterious Emblem of any tier.

    Points

If you kill your target in the active hotspot, you'll earn triple the Bounty Points from both the kill and any Bounties you complete.

    Emblems

While on a killstreak of 2, killing your target will cause up to 3 of their Emblems to upgrade and be dropped on death.

While on a killstreak of 3+, killing your target will cause up to 3 of your Emblems to upgrade (instead of the usual 1) as well as up to 3 of theirs.

Both of these effects occur regardless of the usual emblem upgrade requirements.

    Locations

Below is a map of the potential hotspots. Since the Beta, the ones at the Bone Yard and the south-eastern wasteland have been replaced with three new ones:

    hotspots_2.png

    1. Ghorrock
    2. Mage Arena and Pirate's Hideout
    3. Resource Area and Deserted Keep
    4. Rogue's Castle
    5. Lava Maze
    6. Lava Dragon Isle
    7. Annakarl
    8. The Forgotten Cemetary
    9. Hobgoblin Mine
    10. Bandit Camp and Ruins
    11. Graveyard of Shadows and Ruins
    12. East Dragons
    13. Dark Warriors' Fortress
    14. Chaos Temple

The hotspots range from low to deep Wilderness and contain both multi and single-way combat zones. The rotation selects multi-combat zones less frequently than single-combat zones to ensure a fair balance of each.

    The Bounty Hunter Interface

    interface_2.png

The minigame's interface has been updated to fit the new mechanics. It still contains your target's display name, combat level, rough location (Wilderness level range), plus the skip and minimise buttons from before. However, it now has:
    • A button to check, skip or enable/disable your Bounty Tasks.

    • A timer to show how long you have left to complete your task/when you'll receive the next one.

    • A button to check the active hotspot's location and time remaining.
The minimap now has a locator arrow that points to the general direction of your target. This is to help you hunt them down in addition to the Wilderness level range shown in the interface.

We hope you enjoy this updated version of Bounty Hunter and look forward to your feedback!

    Bounty Hunter Beta: Hotspots

We've added 13 hotspots scattered across the Wilderness to the Bounty Hunter Beta. One of these will be active at any given time, with its border marked by glowing orbs. Killing your targets within these hotspots will yield much higher rewards than usual.

To be eligible, you'll need a minimum combat level of 50 and to be carrying a Mysterious Emblem of any tier. Bounty Hunters will receive messages when a hotspot is due to change at 10, 5 and 1 minute before.

    Bonus Points

For a normal target kill, you'll receive 3, 4 or 5 BH points depending on your killstreak. If you kill your target while in the hotspot, you'll get triple points. Bounty tasks will also give 30 points instead of the usual 10. This bonus does not apply to the milestone points.

    Emblem Bonuses

If you have a killstreak of 2, killing your target in the hotspot will upgrade their emblem as well as your own. Usually, only your emblem would be upgraded and the target's emblem would be destroyed.

While on a killstreak of 3 or more, both you and your opponent's emblems will be upgraded upon a kill in the hotspot.

    Locations

The hotspots will rotate between the following locations:

    hotspots_2.png

    1. Mage Arena and Pirate's Hideout
    2. Resource Area and Deserted Keep
    3. Rogue's Castle
    4. Lava Maze
    5. Lava Dragon Isle
    6. Annakarl
    7. The Forgotten Cemetery
    8. Graveyard of Shadows and Ruins
    9. Bone Yard
    10. Bandit Camp and Ruins
    11. Dark Warriors' Fortress
    12. Chaos Temple
    13. South-eastern Wasteland

    Other BH Beta Changes
    Bounty Crates

Loot crates have been added to the Emblem Trader's shop. They cost 5 points each and contain a variety of PK-ing supplies and occasionally an Ornate Maul Handle or Mysterious Emblem of any tier. We're also giving you 500 points to spend whenever you log into the Beta to test out the crates and let us know what you think!

    Player Bounties

The following tasks have been added to the list of player bounties:
    • Kill your target without using Chivalry, Piety, Rigour or Augury
    • Kill your target with no body armour equipped
    • Kill your target with no leg armour equipped
    • Kill your target with no ring or neck armour equipped
    • Drain 50 of your target's Prayer pointing using Smite before killing your target
    • Deal at least 150 damage using Melee before killing your target
    • Deal at least 150 damage using Ranged before killing your target
    • Deal at least 150 damage using Magic before killing your target
The task requiring you to kill a target without the use of Prayers was changed to 'without the use of overhead Prayers'.

    Target Allocation Timer

Bounty Hunter players will now be a assigned new target within 1 minute. This is down from between 1 and 2 minutes.

    Archaic Emblems

The Emblem Trader will now look for Archaic emblems in your Bank as well as your inventory. This change affects the live game.

The Halloween 2019 Event and BH Beta Changes

The Halloween 2019 Event and BH Beta Changes
The week sees the release of the Halloween 2019 holiday event and changes to the Bounty Hunter rework beta.

    Halloween 2019 Holiday Event

    start.png

Spooktober is here, which means it's time for the annual Halloween event! As you travel north of Lumbridge, you might notice that a player has been trapped by what appears to be two goblins wearing bedsheets. If you're feeling brave enough, why not see what you can do to help?

This year's event unlocks brand new cosmetics as well as all previous Halloween rewards and music if you don't have them already.

As always, the event it available to members and free players, and doesn't have any requirements.

To begin, head to the chicken pen just north of Lumbridge, indicated by the Halloween icon and highlighted in the map below:

    map.png

    Some Words From The Developer:

This year's Halloween event is my first project on the Old School team. It has been an incredible experience learning how Old School is built and actually designing my own piece of content. Before I started the design work for this I asked myself why I started playing RuneScape back in 2006. I wanted the update to feel similar to events and quests I experienced when I was younger, while adding my own personality, and showing some of what you can expect from me in the future.

I'm currently working on Leagues, which I have been very passionate about since I joined the team. I believe this update will bring a breath of fresh air to the game, while still honouring its roots. We now have endless opportunities to challenge your theory crafting, game knowledge and mechanical skills in interesting ways.

I hope you enjoy this year's Halloween event and its rewards. I am incredibly proud and grateful to be creating content for this game and its community.

    Bounty Hunter Rework Feedback

    bh.png

Last week we opened the Bounty Hunter Rework Beta. Since then, we've had loads of feedback and suggestions which we've started working on. This week's changes are designed to address three key points:
    • The minigame needs to be more rewarding.
    • The Beta doesn't accurately represent the real Bounty Hunter minigame.
    • Loose ends caused by the rework.
We'd like to thank all the players who have played the Beta and given suggestions. We're also grateful for the patience of Bounty Hunter players while the live minigame is paused. With your continued feedback, we're confident we can get the Beta where it needs to be!

    The Points System

The main feedback we received was that the new points system is not rewarding enough. To improve this, 3 points will now be awarded per kill, increasing to 4 and 5 when you begin a killstreak of 5 and 10. This scale was previously at 1, 2 and 3 points. This may still be adjusted further if needed.

    Player Bounties

We would also like to make the tasks more rewarding by increasing how quickly they cycle and the points they award. We also have feedback changes to make to tweak the existing tasks and add new ones. These can be expected in an upcoming update.

    Gear Chest, Presets and Stats

We've also made some changes to make the Beta a better simulation of Bounty Hunter in the live game:
    • Items in the chest have been limited to ones you're more likely to find players using in the minigame. It also includes the Ornate Maul Handle.
    • The pre-built loadouts which are accessible via the chest have been made more realistic.
    • You can no longer customise your stats at the chest. Instead, we encourage you to use the pre-built setups mentioned above.
    load_out.png

Special Attack Pool and Spellbook Switching

The energy pool and Prayer altar for changing spellbooks have been moved out of the Bank to be more accessible.

    Emblem Trader's Rewards Shop

All items in the Rewards Shop have been re-costed according to the new points system. The exception is the rune pouch which is dependent on the results of an upcoming poll to make it tradeable, reduce its cost in the Slayer points reward shop, and add it as a reward for other content.

    shop.png

    Rune Pouches and Looting Bags

    pouch.png

Because these items will be unavailable from the Bounty Hunter Rewards Shop for the duration of the Beta, we've made them accessible elsewhere. Slayer Masters now sell the rune pouch (to non-Ironmen only) for 1,500,000 GP and the looting bag for 30,000 GP. This is a temporary fix and will be reverted at the end of the Beta.

    looting.png

On the topic of the looting bag, we're adjusting its drop rate from NPCs in the Wilderness. Previously NPCs always had a 1/30 chance to drop the looting bag. Now, this chance scales with the combat level of the NPC. You can expect to get a looting bag from a level 50 NPC at a rate of 1/6 and from a level 100 NPC at a rate of 1/3.

Ring of Wealth and Magic Shortbow Upgrade Scrolls

    scroll.png

To alleviate the concerns of certain restricted accounts, these two upgrade scrolls have been added to the Wilderness Slayer loot table. They also remain in the Bounty Hunter rewards shop.

The roll that normally provides a Slayer's enchantment scroll (used to enchant the Slayer staff) is now a roll that has a 3/6 chance to give the Slayer's enchantment, 2/6 to give the Ring of Wealth and 1/6 to give the magic shortbow scroll.

We also want to make Clue Boxes accessible elsewhere - likely the Larran's chest in the lower part of the Wilderness, however there wasn't time to include it in this week's update.

    hr.png
    Dagon'hai Robes

    dagonhai.png

The Dagon’hai Robe Set has been added to Larran's chest as a very rare reward. When opening the chest, you have a 1/256 chance to receive the each piece. The stats can be seen below:

    stats_3.png

    hr.png
    In Other News
    • Following last week's change to Teleport Block, some more spells have been updated so that the game won't offer to cast them on NPCs if they can be cast only on other players, or vice versa.
    • Items now correctly appear on the ground if dropped at the top of the steps from Dorgesh-Kaan to the Agility area.
    • Pathfinding around the Lumbridge castle bank has been improved.
    • Pathfinding around the Kourend castle bank has also been improved.
    • Players can no longer stall the Nylocas Vasilias in the Theatre of Blood.

    Bounty Hunter Beta Feedback Changes

    Bounty Hunter Beta Feedback Changes

    hr.png
    BH Beta Feedback Changes

It's been almost a week since the Bounty Hunter rework Beta opened. We've received lots of feedback and we're ready to make improvements to the minigame design, and to the Beta itself. Here’s a look at the changes coming this week, and further tweaks on the way later down the line.

    The Equipment Chest

To make the Beta a more accurate replica of Bounty Hunter, we're limiting the items available from the equipment chest to ones commonly used when PKing - no more running around with Elys and Scythes!

    gear.png

For faster gearing up, we encourage you to use the builds found in the Load-Out section. We'll also remove the option to customise your stats to prevent bypassing Prayer or equipment requirements.

    load_out.png

    The Points System

The main feedback we have received so far is that the system is not rewarding enough. To improve upon this, kills will award 3 points by default, increasing to 4 and 5 once you reach killstreaks of 3 and 10 (previously 1 by default, increasing to 2 and 3).

Adjusting the curve in this way should make the minigame more rewarding both for newer PKers who get fewer kills and for everyone overall.

    The Rewards Shop

Items in the Emblem Trader's shop will be rebalanced according to the new points system. They have been balanced according to High Alch value or Grand Exchange price (whichever was more appropriate for each item), assuming a rate of 20,000GP per Bounty Hunter point.

    shop.png

The exception to this rule is the cost of the Rune pouch, which may be adjusted depending on potential future changes such as becoming available elsewhere, becoming tradable, and having its price reduced in the Slayer points reward shop.

    hr.png
    Non-BH Specific Feedback

The Rune Pouch and Looting Bag

    pouch.png

Players have correctly pointed out that if you don't have the Old Bounty Hunter points stored, the Rune pouch cannot be accessed from that shop. At the moment, this means getting enough Archaic emblems from Wilderness Slayer to buy a new one. We would like to add a temporary alternative while the Beta is running.

Slayer masters will sell you a Rune pouch for 1,500,000 GP. This is a temporary measure to allow players access to the item for the duration of the Beta. The original plan was to have the item available from Krystillia (who is close to the Emblem Trader) but Slayer masters share the same shop and we don't see any harm in it being accessible elsewhere during this temporary measure. Ironmen won't be able to obtain a Rune pouch this way.

In the next available poll, we would like to offer making it tradeable, decreasing its cost in the Slayer Points Reward Shop, and adding it to other activities (likely Last Man Standing and the Mage Training Arena).

Similarly, the Looting bag will be temporarily available in the Slayer Master shop for 30,000 GP. Just like the Rune pouch, this will be removed when the Beta closes.

    Wilderness Slayer

    slayer.png

Many of you have voiced concerns about the profitability of Wilderness Slayer once Archaic emblems are removed from its loot table at the end of the Beta. Rest assuredthat we don't want any changes to leave the activity in a worse state. Dagon'hai robes are still being added to the chest as well as Clue Boxes mentioned below.

We would like to see the effects of these changes on Wilderness Slayer before making any other adjustments. If the activity is still negatively impacted afterwards, we will look to rebalance it. This could mean adjusting the drop rate of Larran's keys, improving the Larran's chest loot table, or adding a drop to replace the Archaic emblems.

Ring of Wealth and Magic Shortbow Upgrade Scrolls

    scroll.png

To alleviate the concerns of certain restricted accounts, these two upgrade scrolls will be added to the Wilderness Slayer loot table. They will also remain in the Bounty Hunter rewards shop.

The roll that normally provides a Slayer's enchantment scroll (used to enchant the Slayer staff) would become a roll that has a 3/6 chance to give the Slayer's enchantment, 2/6 for the Ring of Wealth and 1/6 for the Magic shortbow scroll.

    Clue Boxes

    clue.png

Similar to the scrolls, there are (fair) calls for Clue Boxes to be obtainable elsewhere in addition to the Bounty Hunter rewards shop. We would like to add these as an additional roll from the Larran's chest found in the lower part of the Wilderness. Three or four may be given at a time so that this roll would be adequately rewarding.

    hr.png
    Future Changes

    Player Bounties

We've heard consistently from feedback that the tasks need to be more rewarding and varied. To achieve this, we could make the tasks cycle more frequently than every 30 minutes. This could be changed to 20 or 15 minutes - let us know where you think the right balance is between having enough time to complete them and having frequent enough cycling is.

To increase the variety of tasks, we'd like to add more of them. Our thanks go to the players who suggested the following tasks:
    • Kill your target while having no body armour equipped.
    • Kill your target while having no leg armour equipped.
    • Kill your target with residual damage (Vengeance, Ring of Recoil, Poison, Venom or Redemption).
    • Kill your target without the use of stat-boosting Prayers.
    • Reduce your opponent's Prayer points to zero using the Smite Prayer.
Further ideas for tasks are still welcome!

We would also like to tweak the following existing tasks:
    • Kill your target without using stat boosts - this can be changed to 'without the use of super potions' to be less restrictive.
    • Kill your target without using Prayer - this can be changed to 'without the use of overhead Prayers'
    Bounty Hotspots

To increase the variety of the game mode and introduce a high-risk, high-reward element, we're exploring a design idea for a hotspot system. This would involve selected locations in the Wilderness being selected (one at a time on rotation) as areas that provide bonus rewards.

Rewards for killing targets in the hotspot could include bonuses to points earned and the rate at which emblems are upgraded. Hotspots could have elements of an earning-potential system whereby your rewards multiply based on your current killstreak.

We're also working with the community on additional mechanics to make the gameplay more exciting and are open to all design ideas! Let us know what you think of the idea or send us your own on these Twitter and Reddit threads as well as the official forums.

Bounty Hunter Rework Beta: Day 1 Feedback

Bounty Hunter Rework Beta: Day 1 Feedback
    hr.png
    BH Rework Beta Feedback

Yesterday we launched the Bounty Hunter rework beta and players immediately poured in to test the changes. A big thank you to everyone who has already tried the beta or is currently testing it. We have already gathered key feedback points, some of which require input from the wider PvP community.

    Bounty Tasks

Initial feedback has been that the tasks are too demanding for the points they give. Let us know what you think of the following suggestions:
    • Increasing the number of points awarded
    • Reducing the cooldown of the task timer to 20 minutes
We're also aware that there aren't many different tasks available, so please let us know any ideas for tasks that you have! Bear in mind that we cannot add any that require you to equip or use specific items.

    Gearing up in the Beta

In the beta, you can set your stats and access to all the gear you might want to use to kill another player. This variety gives us the widest possible range of setups for testing purposes. On the other hand, it means players are using maxed gear setups that you wouldn't typically find in Bounty Hunter.

To get the best of both, you will continue to have access to all stats and gear until next week's update. After that, you will be restricted to the presets that we have added. These have been designed to represent the setups you would likely use in the live game. After this, we expect to get more feedback on the changes to the gameplay mechanics themselves. Let us know if you would like additional presets added and include the stats, equipped items, and inventory in your feedback. Our ability to add presets is limited so we'll prioritise the ones that represent the most common PvP player styles.

    The New Mysterious Emblems

We've seen feedback on these is saying that they do not stack in the bank. This is intentional as there is no need to hoard them.

    Archaic Emblems

Some players would like these to be notable for easy points redemption in bulk. This is not possible without making them tradeable, which would be inappropriate as they will be discontinued items until the old Bounty Hunter shop is removed.

Instead we will try to allow the Emblem Trader to convert the ones in your bank. This will take some time and is not expected for next week's update.

Other players were caught off guard by Archaic emblems being removed from the Wilderness Slayer loot table. They have been re-added for now, since the beta does not otherwise affect the live game, but will be removed at full launch.

    hr.png
    Non-BH Specific Feedback

    The Rune Pouch

There is no clear consensus on how much the rune pouch should cost in the Slayer reward points shop so this question will be in the next available poll. We also mentioned offering the pouch elsewhere, like the Mage Training Arena. This would be polled and its existence there would be in addition to the current places it is available.

Ring of Wealth, Magic Shortbow & Clue Boxes

Following feedback, we would like to poll making these available as rare loot from Larran's chest. They would remain in the Bounty Hunter shop, but this would offer an alternate way to obtain them while adding some value to Wilderness Slayer.

    hr.png
    Your Thoughts

Your input will be crucial in shaping the Bounty Hunter rework from its current form in the beta to the final minigame rework. Let us know what you think of the above (additional task suggestions in particular) as well as anything else! Feel free to discuss this post on this Reddit thread, Twitter thread, and the #bounty-hunter channel in the community-led Old School Discord server.

    Bounty Hunter Rework Beta

    Bounty Hunter Rework Beta
This week sees the release of the Bounty Hunter rework beta. The Bounty Hunter rework has been long-awaited, and to ensure its launch is as smooth as possible we'll be operating a beta period to allow you to test it.

    hr.png
    Bounty Hunter Rework Beta

The Bounty Hunter rework beta is now live! The Bounty Hunter rework was announced at previous RuneFest events, and we're pleased to finally offer the content to you. The key main changes are summarised and categorised below, but if you'd like as in-depth look at the mechanics (as described in the initial design blog) then please revisit the original design blog from August (though do note that some of the concepts differ from the update, following your feedback).

It's important to note that whilst this beta is live, you'll be unable to access Bounty Hunter (in its 'current' pre-rework state). We've also made changes to existing mysterious emblems. See below for summaries of the key changes!

    Points and Killstreaks

Bounty points are now awarded for killing targets. Killing multiple targets in a row begins a killstreak, which awards more points. Bonus points are awarded for every X target kill as per this table:

    bonus_kills.png

These points are designed to replace the ones previously earned in the minigame for spending at the Emblem Trader's rewards shop. If you have old points/emblems leftover, you'll still be able to use them - more on that later!

    Player Bounties

    skull2.png

Completing bounty tasks will award 10 points immediately. Your tasks will cycle every 30 minutes, and only one may be completed within that time. Unwanted bounties may be skipped up to three times per day. The potential bounty tasks you may receive are:
    • Kill two targets without leaving, or going below level 1 Wilderness
    • Kill your target using Ranged/Melee/Magic on the last hit
    • Kill your target while risking 250,000 GP (in coins/platinum tokens only)
    • Kill your target without using any prayers
    • Kill your target without using a special attack
    • Kill your target without using Protect Item
    • Kill your target without any stat boosts
If you have ideas for new tasks or think of some while playing the beta, please include them in your feedback! Remember, we are unable to implement any tasks that require specific equipment.

    Updated Interface

The collapsible BH interface has been updated and shows:
    • Your target's display name
    • Their Wilderness level range
    • Whether they are in a multi-combat zone
    • The highest tier emblem they are carrying
    • Your eligibility for an emblem upgrade
    • A button to see your current task
    • The time remaining on your task
    • A button to get a new task

The new interface with the details of a target displayed

    bh_interface_2.png
The new interface while you don't have a target

    Mysterious Emblems

    emblem.PNG

The old mysterious emblems have grown weathered and worn, transforming into archaic versions. These can still be traded for points at the older version of the Bounty Hunter store. In the original blog, we mentioned allowing players to trade them in for a flat rate of 2,000,000 GP to prevent them from crashing in value. Since then, the active trading price has increased to well above 2,000,000 GP so this has not been necessary.

New mysterious emblems can be bought and sold at the Emblem Trader and will allow you to earn some extra gold while playing the minigame. The new interface will tell you when your target has an emblem of an equal or higher tier than yours, making you eligible for an upgrade which doubles your emblem’s value. If you are not eligible, it will allow you to skip your target without a penalty.

Tier 1 emblems may be bought or sold at the Emblem Trader for 75,000 GP. Each tier costs twice as much as the last, going up to tier 5 at 1,200,000 GP.

The decorative T10 emblem can be purchased from the trader for 100 of the new BH points.

    exchange.png
The new emblem exchange interface - tier 5 emblems cannot be bought - only sold after a tier 4 emblem has been upgraded.

    Other Changes
    • A minimum of 30 combat is now required to receive targets in the minigame.
    • You no longer have to wait six minutes to get a new target after dying to a previous one.
    • After killing your BH target, no player may attack you for 20 seconds. This immunity vanishes if you attack another player.
    • The Teleport to Target spell teleports you to the dangerous side by default, rather than the safe zone, if your target is in level 1 Wilderness.
The current Bounty Hunter minigame in the live version will be inaccessible during the beta as both versions cannot exist simultaneously.

    Rewards

The rewards that passed the Bounty Hunter rewards poll, the Dagon'hai set and Godsword animation recolours, will be added to Larran's chest and the BH rewards shop respectively with the full launch of the minigame rework in a few weeks.

    dagonhai.gif

The Rune Pouch and Looting Bag

    rune_pouch.png

In the rewards poll blog we mentioned that we'd like to make both the Rune pouch and the Looting bag tradeable. We had opted to do this following your feedback that players would no longer be able to indirectly purchase Rune pouches using GP following changes to the mysterious emblems (as they're able to do now).

In the rewards poll itself we asked you whether it should be possible to own multiple Rune pouches or Looting bags. Both polls failed (74.7% and 74.3% respectively).

We've made a glaring oversight. By allowing the Rune pouch and Looting bag to be tradeable, the ability to own multiple versions would occur by default.

The results of the poll contradict what we said we'd like to do. Which leaves us in a tough spot (entirely of our own accord). We identified some potential options, and we've opted to do the following: we'll poll making the Rune pouch and Looting bag tradeable (and thus being able to own multiple versions) in the poll which follows the upcoming Twisted Leagues poll. The outcome of that poll would supersede the previous poll questions. We appreciate that it's not ideal, and we apologise firstly for the inconvenience, and secondly for not giving the design of the poll its due diligence. In the meantime (until the aforementioned poll), Rune pouches are obtainable only via the Slayer reward shop, or the Bounty Hunter reward shop.

We would also like to offer the Rune pouch to come from other thematically fitting content, like the Mage Training Arena, in the future. If the community prefers they remain untradeable, this can be made a higher priority to restore some of the item's accessibility.

    Frequently Asked Questions

We know it's a rather sizeable change to an established system, not just in terms of mechanics, but also how rewards and other associated content is affected too. We've prepared an FAQ to try and answer questions we expect to see asked. Throughout the release of the beta we'll continue to monitor the release and update the FAQ accordingly.

Map is WIP and subject to change.

Capital of the vampyres and home of Castle Drakan, Darkmeyer has stood for centuries as an imposing and impenetrable blight on Morytania. Within its dark stone walls you will find a multitude of new shops, amenities, and skilling methods.

    The Vampyres

    Vyreladies1.pngVyrelords1.png
Images are WIP and subject to change.

The city of Darkmeyer is split into three tiers, each home to a different class of vampire. The first tier contains vampyre juveniles and vampyre juvinates. These are equivalent to the vampyres found in Meiyerditch and have the same stats and droptables. The second tier contains Vyrewatch, Elite Vyrewatch, vyrelords and vyreladies. The Vyrewatch are the same as those found in Slepe and have identical stats and droptables. The third tier contains Elite Vyrewatch, vyrelords and vyreladies.

    Pickpocketing Vyrelords and Vyreladies

The vyrelords and vyreladies found through the second and third tiers of the city are not attackable but can be spoken to and pickpocketed. Pickpocketing them requires 60 Thieving and rolls on a new loot table which includes the unique Blood Shard. A Blood Shard is an attachment to the Amulet of Torture that passively saps the life from your opponent while doing melee damage and gives a small percentage of health back to the player.

    Killing Elite Vyrewatch

The Elite Vyrewatch are more powerful versions of the normal Vyrewatch. They can be killed for an improved loot table, which includes the Blood Shard, and can count towards vampyre slayer tasks. Vampyres will also be included in two new Slayer unlocks which will extend vampyre tasks and allow them to be assigned by higher tier Slayer masters.

Spoiler warning! Click here to see more information about the Essence Mine
Essence Mine and Raw Daeyalt Deposits

For many years, Darkmeyer was home to a mysterious power. The presence of this power caused the mineral deposits in the area to change, creating daeyalt and pure essence deposits. Within Darkmeyer’s mine, players can mine raw daeyalt if they have at least 75 Mining. Only one deposit will be active at a time. The active deposit can be mined to obtain stackable and untradeable daeyalt shards that can be converted to into untradeable daeyalt essence with an NPC located in the mine. Daeyalt essence can be used anywhere that pure essence can (provided the player has at least 50 Runecraft). Using daeyalt essence will give 50% more Runecraft XP than pure essence. Note: Training Runecraft through this method including the mining time will not be better than training it through the traditional methods.

    The Hallowed Sepulchre

    dark_graceful1.png

Before the vampyres came to Morytania, the region was known as Hallowvale and was ruled over by the Icyene queen, Efaritay Hallow. Efaritay ruled the region from the capital city in the south east, a city which later became the two cities of Darkmeyer and Meiyerditch once the vampyres took over. With the exception of the royal family, who had their own private graveyard, most citizens of Hallowvale were buried in a great crypt known as the Hallowed Sepulchre. To protect the sepulchre from grave robbers, it was built with various traps and other defence mechanisms. However, that hasn't stopped some from trying to raid the crypt. A group of unknown individuals are particularly interested in recovering any of Hallowvale's old currency, Hallowed Marks, from the sepulchre. To help them with this, they are willing to reward anyone who obtains some of these Hallowed Marks for them.

Once a player enters the sepulchre, they will be given a limited amount of time to raid the crypt. The crypt will be filled with tombs that players can search to steal items from. Items will be randomly chosen from a new loot table, with a rare chance of obtaining a Hallowed Mark. Players will also earn Agility experience for avoiding the various traps in the area, as well as getting a bonus amount of experience whenever a tomb is looted.

The sepulchre is made up of five levels, each requiring a higher Agility level to access. Similar to Pyramid Plunder, players access the next level via the previous one. The Agility requirements are:
    • Level 1: 52 Agility
    • Level 2: 62 Agility
    • Level 3: 72 Agility
    • Level 4: 82 Agility
    • Level 5: 92 Agility

    The Nightmare of Ashihama

    Witch.jpg

Far to the east, there’s an island called Ashihama which is home to a group of sirens. For a long time now the isle has been plagued by nightmare. The dreams of these sirens have been stolen, feasted upon, and destroyed by a force beyond all reckoning. A brave siren named Shura took action, forming a group to defeat the creature in its own lair, but somehow, it escaped across the ocean to Morytania. Drawn to Slepe and its resident sleeper plague, the Nightmare has become the latest in a long line of terrors to stalk the dark corners of this land.

But not all is lost. Although the creature’s power has grown beyond what Shura and her sirens can handle, they have put out a call for brave adventurers to face The Nightmare and hopefully defeat it once and for all. Journey to the Sisterhood Sanctuary in Slepe to take on the challenge and whatever you do, don’t fall asleep.

Aimed at small to large groups, this new group boss will have a similar play style to Corporeal Beast and be both challenging and accessible. The Nightmare is expected to be released earlier than the Sins of the Father and Darkmeyer city.

We want to run a player design competition to come up with new rewards for The Nightmare. Let your imagination run wild and send us your reward suggestions to the oldschoolcommunity@jagex.com mailbox with your RSN and the subject "The Nightmare" so we can sort through them. We will then share our favourite player designed rewards and our reward suggestions in a future blog.

Infiltrate the city of Darkmeyer, permeate vampyric high society and create a new weapon to defeat a terrifying threat to the citizens of Morytania in the latest instalment of the Myreque quest series: Sins of the Father. If that wasn't enough to rattle your bones, you’ll soon be able to team up with fellow players to take on a dark force beneath Slepe known only as The Nightmare.

    Clan System
    Clan%20Header.jpg

Clans have been an integral part of RuneScape since the game’s release. There are clans older than some of our players. Some clans are older than some members of the Old School team!

They're the backbone of the community, and they've existed in Old School RuneScape without any official support. This year, we're going to change that.

We asked some clan leaders to share their insight and the passion they have for their clans.

A substantial amount of technical work needs to be completed before development of the game content can begin. With this in mind, we aren't offering a specific release date beyond aiming for 2020.

Here are some of the features we'd like to offer:

    • New clan ranks and permissions. You'll be able to customise access to the chat channels, and organise your clan structure according to your liking.
    • More chat channels. You'll be able to remain in your clan's chat channel whilst guesting in another clan, and staying in contact with your friends in your friend's chat channel.
    • Up to 500 clan members. There's strength in numbers. The clan system will offer more channel members than the existing friend chat.
    • Clan-wide K/D counters. Identify the strongest (and weakest...) among you.
    • Customisable recruitment boards. Advertise and grow your clan with greater ease than ever before.
    • Clan noticeboards. Share key information with your clan members in one central location.
    • Clan broadcast messages. Communicate with your clan in-game, and rally the troops with a moment's notice.
    • Link your clan Discord server. No more bypassing the chat filter to share your clan's server information.

We want to use the time between today's announcement and the release to talk with players and define a clan system that works for you. You're the experts, and we want to learn from your feedback and suggestions.

Attention clan leaders! We want your knowledge. In return for your expertise we'll fly you to Cambridge, home of the Jagex HQ. Apply for a chance to bring your experience to the place where Old School RuneScape is made.

Click here to learn about Group Ironman

    Group Ironman
    GIM%20Header.jpg

There are some players who seek to earn everything alone. These individuals are brave, committed, and fearless. They have hearts of iron and the will of a thousand souls. They go by many names, but most know them simply as Ironmen... by the way.

Ironman and Ultimate Ironman were released on October 13th 2014. It was a groundbreaking moment, influenced by player-made modes of playing. Hardcore Ironman was released on November 10th 2016, and brought with it amazing achievements, lots of close calls, and countless tragic deaths.

The next development of Ironman will allow fearless heroes to fight alongside each other... with the release of Group Ironman.

    What is Group Ironman?

As a fresh Group Ironman you'll be able to join a group of two to five players. You and your group will earn your items and supplies together, without trading with any other players.

Everyone will be on a fresh playing field with the release of Group Ironman. Four different HiScore races will begin at once! Each group size will have their own HiScores table.

If you've chosen to be a Group Ironman you'll be placed in a penned off area upon completion of the tutorial. Here, similar to Barbarian Assault, you'll find other potential members of your group.

The more people there are, the easier it is to gather items and achieve goals. Your group can always increase in size (up to five players), but cannot decrease. We don't want players to gain an advantage with a bigger group and then move down to a more competitive bracket.

With the proposed clan system, each group will have their own secure chat channel separate from the existing channels.

Each group will have a group leader. The group leader will have the power to initiate a vote to remove someone from the group. In the event of a tie, the group leader will decide the outcome. If you are removed from the group you will remain a Group Ironman but will have to recruit more members to your own newly-formed group.

Why should you play Group Ironman?

A lot of you have told us that you'd love to play with your group of friends! The game mode lends itself to a whole host of new strategies which aren't possible in any of the other Ironman modes.

Delegate the workload. One person can be the potionmaster of the group, another can craft all the jewellery, someone else can train Slayer to obtain powerful weapons, all while somebody else is cooking food for the group!

    hr.png

    Your Feedback

What rewards should the Nightmare yield? What should the clan system look like? Are we overlooking any features for Group Ironman? Have your say.

She has provided happiness, humour, and positivity via her self-proclaimed "silly little comics" for many years, but her efforts are so much more than that.

Prezleek has contributed her work to charity initiatives that have raised huge amounts for amazing causes, and she's helped give confidence to countless budding artists - via collaborations, starting an artists' Discord server, and providing support and encouragement to anyone wanting guidance on their art.

Prezleek epitomises everything that is great about our communities: selflessness, creativity, and the spreading of joy.

A big congratulations to all of the winners!

    The Fremennik Exiles Feedback Changes

    The Fremennik Exiles Feedback Changes
This week’s update sees changes to the basilisk knights and feedback changes to The Fremennik Exiles.

    hr.png
    Basilisk Knight Improvements

    knight.png

Last week we released the latest instalment in the Fremennik questline: The Fremennik Exiles! If you haven't completed the quest yet, you can find the requirements and more information in last week's game update post.

Many of you raised concerns that the basilisk knights were both too easy to kill for a monster that drops an upgrade item for creating a best in slot helmet, and not very entertaining to fight. In response, we're increasing their stats and adding an extra mechanic: a special attack which entombs the player in stone. This can be dodged by moving out of the projectile's way or escaped by trying to move while entombed. The superior versions also have this attack. Additionally, we have removed the safespot outside the room.

    Fremennik Exiles Tweaks

We've also made the following changes based on feedback from the quest:
    • Basilisk knights now appear in skill guides.
    • Superior basilisk knights now take as long to despawn as other creatures if their target moves out of their area.
    • The Fremennik Shield crafted on Neitiznot from arctic pine wood and rope has been renamed. This is to avoid confusion with the older Fremennik Shield which is used during the quest.
    • The creation of Lunar Glass during The Fremennik Exiles can now use astral runes from your rune pouch.
    • Two grammatical errors in quest dialogue were corrected.

    Old School RuneScape Twisted League

    Old School RuneScape Twisted League
This blog will discuss the first Old School RuneScape League with rewards and poll questions.
    hr.png
    Old School RuneScape: Twisted League

    banner.png

Gather around and prepare yourself for a brand new game mode. After recently announcing Old School RuneScape Leagues, we want to now present to you the very first iteration of that mode: Twisted League.

In the Twisted League, you'll play an ironman (or ironwoman), locked to the Kourend and Kebos regions. Set out on an all new kind of challenge, thinking outside of the box while you attempt to unlock as many points as possible for relics and rewards. Set yourself apart from the rest, or just try out an exciting new way to play the game you love.

Old School RuneScape Twisted League will last for two months from the initial release date. Everyone participating in the league will start off as a fresh account on a separate game world. To customise your gameplay, you will be given the option to pick a relic from the very start. The more tasks you complete, the more points you get, and the more relics you can unlock.

Below is a sneak peek of the the Twisted League specifics. We recommend you expand each section fully.

    Rules
    Rules

    Flier.png

Old School RuneScape Twisted League will have some unique caveats to ensure the game mode is fair and enjoyable for everyone. Please note that these rules will only apply to the Twisted League itself.

    Kourend and Kebos Locked
You will be restricted to the Kourend and Kebos regions only. Any successful attempt to escape from Kourend and Kebos will get you teleported back to the respawn point.
    • The respawn location is set to Kourend Castle
    • Ports aside from the one that takes you from one end of Kourend and Kebos to the other will not work
    • All teleports will only work if the destination is within Kourend and Kebos
    • The Ancient and Lunar spellbooks will not be accessible
    • All clues obtained will only have steps that can be completed within Kourend and Kebos

Ironman/Ironwoman Mode with Accelerated XP Rates
You will be set as an ironman or ironwoman upon account creation. This is not changeable.
    • No trading will take place between players
    • Shops will have increased supplies and accelerated restocking rates to accommodate the number of ironmen and ironwomen players on Kourend and Kebos
    • There will be accelerated XP rates throughout the entire league

    Starting Stats
You will start out with a fresh account with the basic stats, besides the following to allow for the ability to do Barbarian Fishing and train Herblore:
    • Herblore: Level 3
    • Agility: Level 15

    Quest Unlocks
In order to be able to obtain and wield certain items or level specific skills you will have the following quests unlocked:
    • Druidic Ritual
    • Dragon Slayer
    • Rune Mysteries

    Slayer Unlocks
You can start Slayer from level 5 combat by speaking to Konar. She has a new Kourend and Kebos defined task list which includes some new tasks specific to the Twisted League. Her tasks will no longer have Area Restrictions but will still award Brimstone Keys.

    Tasks
    Tasks

    Achievement_Diaries.png

Tasks are a collection of goals and achievements which can be completed in the league. These tasks can be for various activities such as skilling, obtaining drops, killing creatures, completing quests or even playing minigames. Completion of a task will award a number of League Points which can be used to unlock relics and overall rewards. Points received for completing each task will be subject to balancing but will be based on the tier of the task. Tasks will range from Easy to Master tiers where Easy tasks are considered simple and Master tasks are considered to be extremely difficult achievements. Below is a list of some Twisted League tasks you can expect to see:

    Skilling Tasks
    • Easy: Steal a golovanova fruit top
    • Medium: Enter the Woodcutting Guild
    • Hard: Cast Resurrect Crops
    • Elite: Check the health of a redwood tree
    • Master: Obtain a skilling pet

    PvM Tasks
    • Easy: Complete a jelly task
    • Medium: 1 Skotizo kill
    • Hard: Equip a Dragon Warhammer
    • Elite: Complete 250 Chambers of Xeric runs
    • Master: Metamorphise the Olmlet

    Other Tasks
    • Easy: Complete the Client of Kourend Quest
    • Medium: Complete the In Search of Knowledge miniquest
    • Hard: Plant 100 bologano seeds
    • Elite: Kourend and Kebos Elite Diary Tasks
    • Master: 2277 Total Level
    Relics
    Relics

    Dark_relic_detail.png

Relics are a leagues specific source of buffs with which you can customise your gameplay experience. Unlocked via League Points, these relics can be boosts in experience, buffs to combat prowess, additional luck on obtaining drops, or even buffs to specific skilling activities. Upon leaving Tutorial Island you will be presented with three relics to choose from without the need for points. This will allow you to choose which strategy you want to use in the league and give you incentive to strive for the next set of relic options. As you unlock more relic options, the buffs become more powerful. Below is a list of the first three Twisted Relics you will get to choose from when entering Kourend and Kebos.

    league_blog_ui_edit.png

    Abyssal Accumulator
    • You save 80% of your ammunition and runes.

    Endless Endurance
    • Your run energy drain-rate is reduced to 0 and your prayer drains at half the speed.

    Dark Altar Devotion
    • Bones dropped by creatures are automatically buried and award 4 times the experience. Ensouled heads now drop two at a time.

Note that numbers may be subject to balancing.

    Rewards
    Rewards

    Coins_detail.png

Rewards will be tiered to ensure players that do participate are rewarded for the effort they put into the league. These unique rewards will be obtainable by placing in the following tiers:

    Tier Threshold
    Bronze Minimum point threshold
    Iron Top 80%
    Steel Top 60%
    Mithril Top 40%
    Adamant Top 20%
    Rune Top 5%
    Dragon Top 1%

Rewards gained will fall under two categories: League-to-League and Main Game.

    League to League Rewards

These rewards will not be polled as they only affect the league specific worlds. They will be a way to show off how well you did in the previous league. These rewards will only appear in the league after the Twisted League. Below is a list of league-to-league reward suggestions.

    League-to-League Pets
    • Any insured pets gained in the previous league will carry over to the next one.
    • You will still lose your pet if you die with it on a league world but Probita will temporarily set up shop in Kourend and Kebos so you can insure and reclaim your league-to-league pet for free.

    League Right Click Icons
    • A unique symbol representing the tier you placed in at the end of the previous league will appear when a player right clicks you.

    League Rank Worlds
    • Mithril, Adamant, and Rune league specific worlds will be accessible based on the tier you ranked in.
    • If you ranked in a higher tier, such as Dragon, you can use all of the rank worlds. Similarly, if you ranked in the Adamant tier, you can access both the Adamant and Mithril rank worlds.

    League Armour Sets
    • Based on how you placed in the league you will be awarded an armour set that can be used in the next one.
    • This armour set will be a basic starter set of armour and a weapon with varying stats that can assist in the early gameplay of the following league.

    Main Game Rewards

Your league points will transfer to the main game as currency to spend in a league reward store. These rewards will be polled as they carry over to the main game. As we want rewards to be accessible to all participants we will determine the cost of these rewards once we can predict how many points players will finish with. All main game rewards will be cosmetic and tradeable unless otherwise stated. The list of rewards to be polled is below:

    Cosmetic Twisted League Outfit

    twisted_outfit_1.PNG

    • 3 tiers of cosmetic outfit with no stats

    FAQ
    FAQ

    newspaper.png

Q: I am more of a casual player and can't really dedicate that much time to the league. Can I still get rewards?
A: We want rewards to be accessible to both the competitive and casual players. That is why alongside hiscores, we have a tiered reward structure that will cater to all types of players.

Q: Do I have to start over?
A: As this is on a new game mode, stats will start off fresh. However, with Twisted League we know the grind at the start can be rather frustrating, which is why we will have accelerated XP rates and an unlockable relic at the very start of your league adventure.

Q: Do I need to make a new account to play leagues?
A: You are more than welcome to use any existing accounts you have created. You will not be able to play both Old School and Twisted League on the same account at the same time.

Q: How long will a league last?
A: Each league will differ on how long it stays open based on the type of league it is and how previous leagues go. The Twisted League itself, however, will last two months from the release date. Stay tuned for the release date announcement!

Q: Why are you working on this and not Group Ironman or Account Security?
A: Leagues is all content work whereas Clans and Group Ironman require some platform work and Account Security falls under an umbrella of different teams such as technical services. We can offer Leagues now, whereas we can't do that with updates that require input from other departments. We know there is an appetite for Group Ironman and Account Security and we are keen to offer you updates when we can.

Q: Will this replace Deadman or other Competitive Gaming Updates/Events?
A: Leagues are not replacing Deadman. We have a new Head of Esports that is currently working on ideas for competitive gaming updates for Old School RuneScape. The moment we know more about that we will let you all know.

Q: If I don't compete in this league will I still be able to get the Twisted League rewards in the next league?
A: You will be able to obtain league rewards from previous leagues using the points you earned. Some of the rewards are also being polled as tradeable so if you don't want to wait until the next league you can always try your luck at buying one. We will not make discontinued rewards with leagues.
